MINNESOTA REASSIGNS DEFENSEMAN RYAN MURPHY TO IOWA

DES MOINES, IA - Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher announced Saturday the National Hockey League (NHL) club has reassigned defenseman Ryan Murphy to Iowa of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Murphy, 24 (3/31/93), totaled two points (1-1=2), six penalty minutes (PIM), a plus-5 rating, 12 shots on goal and 11 blocked shots in nine games with Minnesota since being recalled from Iowa on Nov. 27. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound native of Aurora, Ont., has tallied 11 points (1-10=11) and 39 shots on goal in 18 games with Iowa this season, leading Iowa defensemen and ranking T-4th in assists. Murphy became the 236th player (219th skater) to appear in a regular-season game with the Wild when he debuted with Minnesota on Nov. 27. He was originally selected by Carolina in the first round (12th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft and was signed as a free agent by the Wild on July 1.

In addition, #IAWild has reassigned Christian Frey to the Rapid City Rushand recalled goaltender Adam Vay. #IAWild has also signed goaltender Jeromy Semtner to a PTO.

Iowa faces the Chicago Wolves at 7 p.m. on the road this evening.
