Career Notes: Enters his second pro season in 2016-17 after signing a two-year, entry-level contract with Minnesota on July 1, 2015… 2015-16: Began the season with Iowa Wild. He set or tied 11 records for an Iowa defenseman. Tied the mark for goals in a season for a rookie D-man with five. He set new defensemen marks for assists (18) and points (23) in a year. He also set new rookie defensemen records for power-play goals (3), power-play assists (8) and power-play points (11) by a rookie defender. His 82 shots on goal are the most ever by a first-year defender. Scored a goal in his pro debut, a 4-1 loss at home to Charlotte on Oct. 10, 2015. Recalled to Minnesota on Jan. 9, 2016 and made his NHL debut for Minnesota in a 2-1 win at home over Dallas… 2014-15: Named a Hobey Baker Memorial Award Finalist. Appeared in all 39 games as a junior, leading the Gophers in points and assists. Named to the 2014 Ice Breaker Classic All-Tournament Team. Won national championships with Shattuck St. Mary's in 2010-11 and the Penticton Vees in 2011-12. Older brothers Connor and Ryan (twins) also played on the Gophers. Older sister, Shannon played hockey at Ohio State from 2006-10. Younger sister, Caitlin, plays hockey at Penn State. Father, Mike, played college hockey at Colorado College from 1976-78 and at Minnesota from 1979-81 and was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in the eighth round (#140 overall) of the 1977 NHL Amateur Draft. His father never played pro hockey.
