MINNESOTA WILD AGREE TO TERMS WITH BLUM AND LANDRY

Wild Add Depth to Blue line  

 

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Friday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has agreed to terms with free-agent defensemen Jonathon Blum and Jon Landry to one-year, two-way contracts.

 

Blum, 24 (1/30/89), collected seven points (1-6=7) and six penalty minutes (PIM) in 35 games with the Nashville Predators last season. He also recorded 12 points (1-11=1) in 34 contests with the Milwaukee Admirals in the American Hockey League (AHL). The 6-foot-1, 190-pound native of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., notched 22 points (7-15=22) and 20 PIM in 91 career NHL matches during three seasons with the Predators. He also skated in 12 playoff games with Nashville in 2011 and recorded two assists. Blum tallied 113 points (23-90=113) and 104 PIM in 236 AHL matches with Milwaukee.

 

He was named to the Canadian Major Junior First All-Star Team and the Canadian Major Junior Defenseman of the Year in 2009 after collecting 66 points (16-50=66) and 30 PIM in 51 games with the Vancouver Giants in the Western Hockey League (WHL). Blum won a Memorial Cup with Vancouver in 2007 and is the Giants’ all-time leader in defenseman scoring with 204 points (49-155=204) in 248 contests. He also played for Team USA at the 2008 and 2009 World Junior Championship. Blum was originally selected by Nashville in the first-round (23rd overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

 

Landry, 30 (5/11/83), recorded 33 points (8-25=33) and 57 PIM in 72 games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL) last season. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound native of Montreal, Que., split the 2011-12 season between Bridgeport and the Colorado Eagles (ECHL). He tallied 20 points (2-18=20) in 34 games with Bridgeport and 30 points (12-18=30) in 35 games with Colorado. Landry has collected 53 points (10-43=53) and 86 PIM in 108 career AHL games with Bridgeport and Portland.
