WOLVES DEFEAT WILD 4-3 IN A SHOOTOUT

Iowa Concludes Regular Season in Oklahoma City this Friday and Saturday

Des Moines, IA – The Iowa Wild (27-36-6-5, 65 points) were defeated by the Chicago Wolves (43-22-5-5, 96 points) 4-3 in a shootout in front of 4,994 fans at Wells Fargo Arena on Wednesday night. Wolves forward Alexandre Bolduc scored in the sixth round of a sudden-death shootout to lead his team to victory. Wild goalie Johan Gustafsson (12-19-3) made 22 saves in regulation and stopped four of six shootout attempts in the loss. Wolves goalie Matt Climie (10-10-2) made 41 saves in regulation and stopped five of six shootout attempts in the win. Wild forwards Jamie MacQueen, Kurtis Gabriel and Tyler Graovac each recorded a pair of points in the final home game of the regular season. The Wild concludes its regular season in Oklahoma City at 7 p.m. this Friday and Saturday.

The Wolves opened the scoring 50 seconds into the first period with a goal by forward Michael Davies. The left winger beat Iowa goalie Johan Gustafsson top shelf, giving his team a 1-0 lead. Forwards Shane Harper and Pat Cannone each assisted on Davies’ 11th goal of the year. Iowa forward Kurtis Gabriel tied the game 1-1 at 15:56. Gabriel tapped a rebound past Chicago goalie Matt Climie, scoring his first goal of the season. Wild forwards Tyler Graovac and Jamie MacQueen each picked up an assist on the goal.

The Wolves regained the lead at 8:31 of the second period with a goal by Shane Harper. The right winger blasted a slap shot near the right-wing circle, beating Gustafsson. Defenseman Joe Corvo picked up the lone assist on the play. The Wild countered with a power-play goal at 12:14 with a goal by Jake Dowell. The center deflected the puck on net, scoring his seventh goal of the season. Defensemen Steven Kampfer and Dylan Labbe each added an assist on the goal. Iowa claimed the lead at 13:26 with a goal by MacQueen. The left winger snapped a wrist shot just above the left shoulder of Climie. Forwards Gravoac and Gabriel each earned an assist, helping the team to a 3-2 lead. The Wolves fired back at 14:31 with a goal by Canonne. The forward chipped the puck in between the pads of Gustafsson, tying the game 3-3.

The two teams went through a scoreless third period and overtime before heading to a shootout. Chicago went two of six, with forward Alexandre Bolduc scoring in the sixth round to give his team a 4-3 win.

The Wild concludes its regular season in Oklahoma City at 7 p.m. on April 18 and April 19.
