MINNESOTA WILD RE-SIGNS DEFENSEMAN STEVEN KAMPFER


SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has re-signed defenseman Steven Kampfer to a one-year, two-way contract.


Kampfer, 24 (9/24/88), collected 21 points (4-17=21) and 28 penalty minutes (PIM) in 55 games in 2012-13 with the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL). He led team defensemen with 132 shots on goal during the regular season and added two points (1-1=2) in five playoff games with the Aeros. Kampfer was acquired by the Wild from the Boston Bruins in exchange for Greg Zanon on Feb. 27, 2012. He collected three points (2-1=3) in 13 NHL games with Minnesota in 2011-12 and two assists in 10 games with Boston. Kampfer also skated in 12 games with Providence (AHL) and recorded five points (1-4=5).


Kampfer has collected 15 points (7-8=15) in 61 career NHL contests with Boston and Minnesota. The 5-foot-11, 194-pound native of Ann Arbor, Mich., was originally selected by Anaheim in the fourth-round (No. 93 overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
