IOWA RE-SIGNS VETERAN FORWARD CODY MCLEOD

Iowa Wild General Manager Tom Kurvers announced today the re-signing of forward Cody McLeod to a one-year, AHL contract for the 2020-21 season.

Entering his 16th professional season, McLeod, 36 (6/26/84), appeared in 21 games for Iowa last season, collecting seven points (4g, 3a) and 41 PIM. He picked up an assist in his team debut on Oct. 6, 2019 versus Milwaukee and enjoyed a stretch of three goals in a five-game-span from Nov. 10 – Nov. 24, including the game-winning tally at home against Bakersfield on Nov. 23.

A native of Binscarth, Man., McLeod has logged 776 games in his NHL career, posting 127 points (72g, 55a) and 1,630 PIM with Colorado, Nashville and the New York Rangers over a 12-year-span.

Listed at 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, McLeod turned pro after four seasons with the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League (WHL). His AHL debut came on Jan. 6, 2006 while skating for the Lowell Lock Monsters, and his first NHL contest came with the Colorado Avalanche on Dec. 19, 2007.

McLeod originally signed with Iowa on August 26, 2019.
