IOWA WILD SIGNS FORWARD GARRETT THOMPSON TO PTO

DES MOINES, IOWA – Iowa Wild General Manager Brent Flahr announced today the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed forward Garrett Thompson to a Professional Tryout Agreement (PTO).

Thompson, 28 (3/7/1990), is in the midst of a career-year with Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL, where he’s recorded 64 points (26g, 38a) in 58 games. In three seasons with the Komets, Thompson has 140 points (57g, 83a) in 158 games.

The 6-foot-3, 206-pound native of Traverse City, Mich., has also spent three seasons in the AHL, most recently with San Antonio Rampage in 2015-16. He has 30 points (13g, 17a) in 104 career AHL games, split between San Antonio and Binghamton Senators.

Prior to playing professional hockey, Thompson played collegiately at Ferris State University, where he posted 87 points (42g, 45a) in 139 games with the Bulldogs. He also spent three seasons with Traverse City North Stars of the NAHL, where he scored 80 points (40g, 40a) in 121 games.

Iowa is in Grand Rapids Saturday for the second game of a two-part series against the Griffins. Puck drop is at 6:00 p.m. CT.
