IOWA WILD ANNOUNCES UPDATES TO HOCKEY OPERATIONS STAFF
Sep 1, 2026DES MOINES, Iowa - Iowa Wild General Manager Matt Hendricks today announced the following updates to its hockey operations staff. The club has hired Cory Chapp as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and Nick Peyton as Assistant Athletic Trainer.
Chapp enters his first season as the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Iowa Wild, bringing more than a decade of experience working with athletes at the professional, collegiate, Olympic, and elite levels.
Prior to joining the Wild, Chapp served as the Head of Strength and Conditioning at the University of Minnesota Duluth, where he oversaw the development and implementation of training programs for 12 varsity sports. He also spent three seasons previously with the Chicago Cubs organization as a Minor League Strength & Conditioning Coach, working with professional baseball players throughout the organization. Chapp’s previous experience also includes positions with the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, University of Minnesota, Boston University, and Merrimack College.
Chapp earned a Master of Science in Exercise and Sports Science from Merrimack College and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Strength and Conditioning from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and holds additional certifications through USA Weightlifting, Precision Nutrition, and Reflexive Performance Reset.
Peyton joins the Iowa Wild following a season with the ECHL's Savannah Ghost Pirates as the team’s Athletic Trainer. An Independence, Iowa native, Peyton previously worked for the USHL's Des Moines Buccaneers and Des Moines Capitals high school hockey team. He graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2017 before serving as a graduate assistant at Buena Vista University and earning a Master's in Sports Management from the University of South Dakota.
