MINNESOTA RE-SIGNS KURTIS GABRIEL

Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Monday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has re-signed restricted free-agent forward Kurtis Gabriel to a one-year, two-way contract ($715,000/$70,000).

Gabriel, 24 (4/20/93), totaled one assist and 29 penalty minutes (PIM) in 13 games with Minnesota in 2016-17, adding 10 points (8-2=10) and 68 PIM in 40 games with the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL). The 6-foot-4, 211-pound native of Newmarket, Ont., has totaled 40 points (23-17=40) and 345 PIM in 190 games in parts of four seasons with Iowa (2013-17). The winger appeared in three games with Minnesota in 2015-16, including his NHL debut versus Winnipeg on Nov. 10, 2015. Gabriel also skated in four Stanley Cup playoff games with the Wild in 2016. He was originally selected by Minnesota in the third round (81st overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

Gabriel's 190 games played in Iowa ranks fourth all-time, while his 345 penalty minutes are the most in team history.
