AFTER FURTHER REVIEW – JORDAN SCHROEDER

For Iowa Wild fans, Jordan Schroeder’s season was similar to his previous campaign in 2014-15. Just like the year before, Schroeder spent nearly half the season in Des Moines and the other half in St. Paul.  As it has always been, when in Iowa, Schroeder’s numbers are some of the best the franchise has ever seen.  Not only did he improve on his stats, fans in Iowa also got to see his record setting night in late January.

In 2015-16 Schroeder put up better numbers than the season before in Iowa. In 2014-15 he scored 10 goals and added 18 assists for 28 points in 35 games played.  The speedy forward also played in 25 games for the big club, scoring three times and totaling eight points.  This past year, Schroeder was even better, scoring 14 goals and totaling 34 points in 40 games played. He also played in 26 games for Minnesota, scoring twice and totaling four points.

Schroeder quietly played a massive role in Iowa’s historic night on Jan. 29, 2016 – a 5-4 OT win over Charlotte at home. Not only did he set a team record for assists in one game with four, he also tied the mark for the best plus/minus rating in a single game at +4. Vancouver’s former first round pick (#22 overall in 2009) was instrumental in setting up all three of Christoph Bertschy’s goals for the team’s first ever hat trick. He capped off the night be setting up Grayson Downing for the OT winner.

Despite playing roughly in half of each of the past two seasons, Schroeder has managed to work himself into numerous categories on the team’s all-time scoring list. The Lakeville, MN native ranks #1 in points per game average at 0.83.

Schroeder’s All-time Iowa Wild Numbers

Assists: 38 (T-5th all-time)

Points: 62 (5th all-time)

Power-Play Goals: 8 (T-3rd all-time)

Power-Play Points: 16 (T-2nd all-time)

Power-Play Assists: 24 (T-2nd all-time)

Shots on Goal:  187 (9th all-time)

Not that it could ever happen (because he is too good), but if Jordan Schroeder ever spent an entire season in Iowa, he would clearly re-write the team record books for nearly every offensive category. As with any player, they would rather be playing in the NHL if that option is available, but if it isn’t, fans in Des Moines would gladly welcome him back.  His two-year deal with Minnesota comes to an end this summer. Until then, he remains a restricted free agent, which allows the Wild a solid opportunity to re-sign him this summer.
