Milwaukee Admirals (3-1-0-1, 7 Points) at Iowa Wild (3-4-0-0, 6 Points)

Iowa visits Milwaukee for the first time this season, helping the Admirals open their season with the first-ever game at UWM Panthers Arena. It also marks Iowa’s first road game of the year and Milwaukee’s first home game of the year. Iowa begins a three-game road trip with games in Milwaukee and Grand Rapids. The Wild claimed the first meeting of the season with a 6-1 route at Wells Fargo Arena on Friday night. Iowa and Milwaukee will meet seven more times throughout the 2016-17 season. The Wild concluded its seven-game home stand on Friday, going 3-4-0-0 through the stretch. Iowa is 10-13-2-2 all time against the Admirals, including a 6-5-0-2 mark all-time in Milwaukee. Milwaukee is 17-7-2-1 against Iowa all-time, including a 7-6-0-0 mark at home.

Iowa is 3-4-0-0 through the first seven games of the season (all home games). Milwaukee is 3-1-0-1 so far this season (all road games).

The Iowa Wild defeated the Milwaukee Admirals 6-1 in front of 5,510 fans on Friday night at Wells Fargo Arena. Iowa goalie Steve Michalek made 36 saves and seven different skaters registered a multi-point night in the lopsided win. Center Tyler Graovac led all scorers with two goals and one assist in the victory. Veteran forward Jordan Schroeder scored twice, while defenseman Mike Reilly added three assists in the first meeting of the season between the two teams. Wingers Christoph Bertschy and Colton Beck each had a goal and an assist as Iowa wrapped up its seven-game home stand at 3-4-0-0. Defensemen Gustav Olofsson also added two assists. Milwaukee goalie Jonas Gunnarsson (made 25 saves in the loss. Iowa ended Milwaukee’s 13-game unbeaten string (10-0-2-1) at Wells Fargo Arena dating back to 2013, marking the first regulation win over the Admirals at home in team history.

Iowa Wild

Through the first seven games of the regular season, veteran forward Jordan Schroeder leads the team in scoring with three goals and three assists for six points in seven games.  He has posted back-to-back three-point games. Defenseman Zach Palmquist is second with a goal and four assists in seven games played. Defenseman Mike Reilly has one goal and four assists for five points in three games. Rookie forwards Mario Lucia (1g,3a), Alex Tuch (3a), Sam Anas (1g-1a), and Adam Gilmour (1g-2a) also rank among the top scorers on the team.

Veteran Alex Stalock and rookie Steve Michalek split time in net for Iowa. Stalock is (1-4-0) with a 4.28 GAA and a .871 SV%. Michalek is 2-0-0 with a 2.50 GAA and a .928 SV%.

Iowa’s power play sits 9th in the league after going 9-for-38 (23.7%). The Wild’s penalty kill also sits 14th after stopping 26 of 31 (83.9%).

Milwaukee Admirals

The most notable offseason change for Milwaukee is the team’s home ice. After 28 years at the BMO Harris Bradley Center, the Admirals move down the street to the UWM Panthers Arena. The Admirals host their first home game on Oct. 29 by hosting Iowa.

The biggest player departures include forward Max Reinhart, who signed with the Cologne Sharks of the DEL. He had 23 goals and 38 points in 73 games with Milwaukee. Joining him is veteran defenseman Corey Potter. He joined the team late in the year, coming over from Springfield after a trade between Nashville and Arizona.

Right wing Adam Payerl leads his club in scoring with one goal and three assists for four points in five games. Forwards Trevor Smith, Justin Florek, Felix Girard Vladislav Kamenev and Pontus Aberg each has two points. Goalie Jusse Saros is 3-0-0 with a 1.00 GAA and a .964 SV %.

Milwaukee’s power play is 28th, going 2-for-25 (8.0%). The Admirals are 20th on the penalty kill, stopping 26 of 32 (81.3%).
