Iowa Wild (4-5-0-0, 8 Points) at Milwaukee Admirals (5-2-0-1, 11 Points)
Iowa concludes its first road trip of the season on Saturday in Milwaukee, the clubs third meeting in the last eight days. The Wild swept a weekend home-at-home series last weekend, outscoring the Admirals 9-3 in the two games.  Iowa and Milwaukee will meet six more times throughout the 2016-17 season. Iowa is 11-13-2-2 all-time against the Admirals, including a 7-5-0-2 mark all-time in Milwaukee. Milwaukee is 17-8-2-1 against Iowa all-time, including a 7-7-0-0 mark at home.

Iowa is coming off a 4-1 loss at Grand Rapids on Friday night. The first of three games in three nights in three different cities. The Wild plays at 5 Pm at home on Sunday against Rockford. The Admirals won 3-2 in a shootout at home over Chicago on Friday.

Last Time Out
The Iowa Wild was defeated by the Grand Rapids Griffins 4-1 in front of 7,420 fans on Friday night at Van Andel Arena. The Griffins scored twice in the third period to pull away from the Wild, posting a victory in Iowa’s first visit of the season. Griffins’ goalie Jared Coreau was nearly perfect, stopping 30 of 31 Iowa shots. Defenseman Robbie Russo and center Matt Lorito each had a goal and an assist, as the Griffins ended a two-game losing skid. Despite making a career-high 41 saves, Iowa Wild goalie Steve Michalek suffered his first defeat of the year. Rookie Alex Tuch scored his first career goal and Iowa slipped to 1-1-0-0 on the road.

Through the first nine games of the regular season, veteran forward Jordan Schroeder leads the team in scoring with four goals and three assists for seven points in eight games.  He was named the AHL Player of the Week and then recalled to Minnesota earlier this week. Defenseman Mike Reilly has one goal and five assists for six points in five games. He is tied for seventh in scoring for all AHL defensemen in points. Forward Colton Beck (2g-3a) is tied for third on the team with five points. He is joined by Mario Lucia (1g,4a) and Alex Tuch (1g,4a). Four other skaters are tied for fourth on the team in points with four points apiece. Rookie forwards Sam Anas (2g-1a), and Adam Gilmour (1g-3a) also rank among the top scorers on the team.

Veteran Alex Stalock and rookie Steve Michalek split time in net for Iowa. Stalock is (1-4-0) with a 4.28 GAA and a .871 SV%. Michalek is 3-1-0 with a 2.73 GAA and a .928 SV%.

Iowa’s power play sits 10th in the league after going 9-for-49 (18.4%). The Wild’s penalty kill sits 17th after stopping 33 of 40 (82.5%).

Notables –

●       Forward Teemu Pulkkinen made his Iowa Wild debut Friday in Grand Rapids.

●       Iowa lost its eighth straight game at Van Andel Arena. Dates back to Mar. 8, 2014, the last Iowa win at GR (3-1).

●        Iowa has handed Milwaukee both of its regulation losses this season.

Milwaukee Admirals
Left wing Matt White leads Milwaukee with seven points in only five games played. He also leads the team with a +5. Center Vladislav Kamenev (3g,3a) and right wing Pontus Aberg (3g,3a) are tied for second in points with six each. Center Trevor Smith and right wing Adam Payerl are also among the team leaders with five points each. Payerl leads the team with 29 penalty minutes in eight games.

Goalies Jusse Saros, Jonas Gunnarsson and Mark Visentin share time in net for Milwaukee. Saros sees the majority of time and is 5-1-0 with a 1.82 GAA and a .933 SV %. Gunnarsson is 0-1-0 with his only appearance against Iowa on Oct. 28, where he allowed six goals on 37 shots. Visentin is 0-0-1 with a 1.85 GAA and a .944 SV %.

Milwaukee’s power play is 23rd, going 5-for-35 (12.8%). The Admirals are 13th on the penalty kill, stopping 42 of 50 (84.0%).
