Iowa and San Jose meet for the first of two meetings this season. The Wild and Barracuda have never met in franchise history. The 2015-16 season is the inaugural season for the Barracuda. The team, formerly known as the Worcester Sharks relocated to San Jose after last season. The NHL’s San Jose Sharks moved their AHL affiliate from the East Coast to the West Coast as part of the AHL’s western expansion in the summer of 2015. The Wild and Barracuda won’t meet again until March 9th in San Jose.

Last Time Out

The Iowa Wild were defeated by the Chicago Wolves 3-0 in front of 5,620 fans on Friday evening at Allstate Arena. Wolves’ goalie Pheonix Copley blanked Iowa with 34 saves for his third shutout of the season. After two scoreless periods of play, Chicago’s Pat Cannone and Andre Benoit scored 3:06 apart midway through the final period, helping end the Wolves three-game losing skid. Wild goalie Jeremy Smith stopped 32 of 35 shots in the road loss. Former Wild forward Riley Brace set up two goals for the Wolves.

Forwards Christoph Bertschy and Grayson Downing lead the team with 20 points each. Right wing Zack Mitchell leads the team in goals with 12 and is tied for third on the team in points with 18 in 39 games played. On NHL recall to Minnesota, Mike Reilly led all defensemen with 18 points in 32 games at the time of his departure. Winger Michael Keranen is fifth on the team with 17 points in 31 outings. Center Jordan Schroeder has 16 points in 23 games played.

Forwards Bryan Lerg and Jeremy Langlois are both tied for third on the team in scoring with 20 points. Rookie Joakim Ryan leads all defenseman with 15 points in 34 games.

Goalie Aaron Dell (6-6-3) holds a 2.59 GAA and .911 SV% in 16 appearances. Troy Grosenick is 10-4-3 in 19 appearances, holding a 2.91 GAA and a .905 SV%.
