MINNESOTA WILD RECALLS GOALTENDER CAL PETERSEN, IOWA WILD RECALLS FORWARD CAMERON BUTLER AND GOALTENDER WILLIAM ROUSSEAU
Feb 2, 2026MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Minnesota Wild President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Bill Guerin today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled goaltender Cal Petersen under emergency conditions from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL). The Iowa Wild also recalled forward Cameron Butler and goaltender William Rosseau from the Iowa Heartlanders (ECHL).
Petersen, 31 (10/19/94), owns a 4-13-0 record with a 2.82 goal-against average (GAA), a .897 save percentage (SV%) and two shutouts in 17 starts with Iowa this season. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound native of Waterloo, Iowa, owns a 96-111-19 record, 3.10 GAA, .901 SV% and 13 shutouts in 232 career games across seven AHL seasons with Lehigh Valley (2023-25), Ontario Reign (2017-23) and Iowa (2025-26), earning AHL All-Star game selections in 2017-18 and 2019-20. In 15 career Calder Cup Playoff games he owns a 5-10-1 record with a 2.94 GAA and a .884 SV%. Petersen has also recorded a 46-44-10 record, 2.96 GAA, .903 SV% and four shutouts in parts of six NHL seasons with the Los Angeles Kings (2018-23) and Philadelphia Flyers (2023-24).
Petersen has represented the United States at three IIHF World Championships (2017, 2021, 2023), notably posting a 5-2-0 record, two shutouts, tournament-leading 1.29 GAA and .953 SV%, and receiving the tournament’s Best Goaltender award as he helped Team USA to a bronze medal in 2021. Petersen played three collegiate seasons (2014-17) at the University of Notre Dame, appearing in 110 games and posting a 55-39-15 record. He earned First-Team All-Hockey East honors as a junior in 2016-17, Honorable Mention All-Hockey East honors as a sophomore in 2015-16 and Hockey East All-Rookie Team honors in 2014-15.
Petersen was originally selected in the fifth round (No. 129 overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft by the Buffalo Sabres. He signed a one-year contract with Minnesota on July 2 and wears sweater No. 40 with the Wild.
Butler, 23 (6/9/02), has recorded one goal, 20 penalty minutes (PIM), and a minus-2 rating in 15 games with the Iowa Wild this season. Butler has also posted six points (2-4=6), 18 PIM, and a minus-2 rating in nine games with the Heartlanders in 2025-26. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound native of Ottawa, Ont., owns 12 points (5-7=12), 165 PIM and 87 shots in 106 career AHL games in four seasons with Cleveland (2022-25) and Iowa (2025-26). Butler has appeared in one NHL game, making his debut on March 30, 2024, vs. Pittsburgh.
He recorded 154 points (74-80=154), 297 PIM, 23 powerplay goals (PPG) and 543 shots in 257 career Ontario Hockey League (OHL) games in parts of four seasons with the Peterborough Petes (2018-20), Niagara IceDogs (2020-22) and Oshawa Generals (2022-23). He captained Niagara in the 2021-22 season, posting 23 points (6-17=23), 22 PIM, and 64 shots in 24 games. He also recorded five points (3-2=5), 26 PIM and 23 shots in nine OHL playoff games with Oshawa.

Rousseau, 23 (1/9/2003) has recorded a 0-1-0 record with a 3.43 goals-against average (GAA) and a .905 save percentage (SV%) in two games with the Iowa Wild this season. Rousseau also owns a 5-11-3 record with a 3.22 GAA and a .897 SV% in 21 games with the Heartlanders this season. Rousseau recorded a 1-1-1 record with a 2.38 GAA and a .921 SV% with the Iowa Wild in 2024-25. The Trois-Rivières, Québec native went 17-7-5 with a 2.69 GAA and a .911 SV% in 29 games with the Heartlanders in 2024-25.
Prior to his professional career, Rousseau played 137 games across four seasons in the QMJHL with the Québec Remparts (2020-23) and the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies (2023-24), where he accumulated a record of 95-26-3 with a 2.35 GAA and a .910 SV%. Rousseau also appeared in 36 playoff games in his final three junior seasons and posted a record of 26-10-0 with a 2.43 GAA and a .911 SV%.
