Iowa Welcomes Chicago at 7 P.M. on Friday

DES MOINES, IA – The Iowa Wild (5-9-0-1, 11 points) were defeated by the Rockford IceHogs (6-8-1-0, 13 points) 3-1 in front of 3,457 fans on Wednesday night at Wells Fargo Arena. Rockford’s Ville Pokka, Tanner Kero and Sam Carrick each scored a power-play goal to help the IceHogs defeat the Wild for the first time this season. IceHogs goalie Lars Johansson (4-5-1) stopped 26 of 27 shots in the win. Wild forward Teemu Pulkkinen scored the only goal for Iowa on a power play. Wild goalie Steve Michalek (4-3-1) stopped 31 of 34 shots in the loss.Iowa welcomes the Chicago Wolves for the first time this season at 7 PM on Friday.

Forward Teemu Pulkkinen scored a power-play goal for the Wild at 3:28 of the first period, giving Iowa a 1-0 lead. Pulkkinen’s third goal of the year was set up by Pat Cannone and Zach Palmquist. Palmquist slipped a pass to the right-wing circle, and Pullkinen blasted a one-timer past Rockford goalie Lars Johansson. IceHogs defenseman Ville Pokka scored his first goal of the season at 11:12 of the opening frame, tying the game 1-1. The power-play goal was assisted by forwards Spencer Abbott and Tanner Kero. Pokka’s took a back-door past and snapped a wrist shot over the glove of Wild goalie Steve Michalek.

Kero scored his third goal of the season for the IceHogs at 2:40 of the second period, giving Rockford a 2-1 lead. The power-play goal was set up by Abbott and Pokka. Abbott sent a cross-ice pass from the left-wing circle to Kero, who beat Michalek for the Hogs first lead of the night.  IceHogs forward Sam Carrick scored a power-play goal for Rockford at 18:39 of the middle frame, extending Rockford’s lead to 3-1. Martin Lundberg helped set up Carrick’s first goal of the season.

 The Wild takes on the Chicago Wolves on Friday, Nov. 18 at 7 PM at Wells Fargo Arena. The Red Kettle Game is presented by the Salvation Army. The first 1,500 fans to donate to the Salvation Army receive a Red Puck. Fans can also bring in coats to donate for the Winter Coat Drive, presented by G&L Clothing. The Wild embarks on a seven-game road trip from November 19 to December 3. The team plays games in Chicago, Manitoba, Charlotte and Grand Rapids. The Wild returns back to Des Moines to welcome the Milwaukee Admirals on Tuesday, Dec. 6. The game is Kids Eat Free Tuesday, sponsored by 96.5 Country and Goodhue Nolte Insurance. All kids 12 and under eat free with (1) Crash’s Kids Meal, which includes one hotdog, one soda, one popcorn, one fruit snack and an Iowa Wild prize. Fans may also bring in their Subway receipt to purchase a ticket for only $5.

The Iowa Wild 2016-17 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center: and runs from October through April. The Wells Fargo Arena box office is open Monday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday. For Saturday game days, the box office will open at 10 a.m. For Sunday game days the box office will open at 12 p.m. Fans may also purchase tickets by calling 1-844-55-HYVEE or by visiting participating Hy-Vee food stores locations in the greater Des Moines area.
