BLUM, ZUCKER AND KUEMPER RECEIVE OFFERS
SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Monday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has made qualifying offers to the following restricted free agents: D Jonathon Blum, RW Justin Fontaine, G Darcy Kuemper, RW Nino Niederreiter and LW Jason Zucker.
Blum spent the majority of the season in Iowa with the Wild, scoring seven goals and leading all Iowa defensemen in scoring with 29 points in 54 games. The 25-year old also played in 15 games for Minnesota, recording one assist.
The 22-year old Zucker split time between Iowa and Minnesota before an injury ended his season. Zucker played in 22 games with Iowa, scoring eight goals and totaling 13 points. The Newport Beach, CA native also scored four times and accumulated five points in 21 games with Minnesota.
Kuemper split the season between Iowa and Minnesota, enjoying his best pro season to date. In 17 appearances with the Iowa Wild, Kuemper was among the league leaders with a .929 save percentage. The Saskatoon, SK native also posted a 7-10-0 record with a 2.47 G.A.A. in Iowa. In 26 games with Minnesota, Kuemper was 12-8-4 with a 2.43 G.A.A., a .915 save percentage and two shutouts.
The team did not make qualifying offers to restricted free agents Josh Caron (F), Tyler Cuma (D) and Kristopher Foucault (LW). Cuma played in 55 games for Iowa, setting up eight goals and adding 47 penalty minutes. Foucault spent 58 games with Iowa, scoring 11 goals and racking up 22 points. Caron was scoreless in 13 games with Iowa, while accumulating 14 penalty minutes. All three are now free agents.
