WILD DOUBLES UP ADMIRALS 4-2 

Iowa Returns Home Tuesday To Host Grand Rapids

MILWAUKEE, WI – The Iowa Wild (18-36-1-1, 38 points) defeated the Milwaukee Admirals (29-15-4-4, 66 points) 4-2 in front of 7,349 fans on Saturday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. Iowa scored twice in the second period and twice again in the third period, pulling away from Milwaukee and ending the team’s seven-game losing skid. Veteran winger Ruslan Fedotenko scored twice, while Tyler Graovac and Brady Brassart added goals for Iowa, which clinched the season series over Milwaukee with 5-3-0-0 mark. Iowa goalie Johan Gustafsson (8-18-1) made 36 saves for the road win. Milwaukee goalie Marek Mazanec (15-11-4) made 26 saves on 29 shots in the defeat. Kevin Fiala and Viktor Arvidsson netted goals for the Admirals. Iowa returns home at 7 p.m. to host Grand Rapids at Wells Fargo Arena.

After a scoreless first period, Iowa opened the scoring at 3:09 of the second frame. Brady Brassart picked up his fifth goal of the year, blasting a one-timer off a feed from Kurtis Gabriel for the 1-0 lead. The Wild added to its lead at 9:17 of the period, capitalizing off a 5-on-3 power play. Winger Zach Mitchell and defenseman Collin Bowman worked the puck around for Tyler Graovac. Iowa’s leading scorer potted his team-leading 17th goal of the season, beating Marek Mazanec for the 2-0 lead.

The Admirals pushed back to cut the deficit in half at 3:48 of the third period. Viktor Arvidsson beat Gustafsson for his team’s first goal of the night. Arvidsson’s 17th tally of the season was set up Kevin Fiala and Tyler Aronson. The Wild countered with a goal of its own at 6:22. Veteran forward Ruslan Fedotenko scored his first goal of the season, with help from rookie Greg Wolfe and Brett Sutter, making it 3-1 Iowa. The Admirals closed the gap to one at 15:00 as Fiala picked up his sixth goal of the year. Viktor Stalberg and Colton Sissons each had an assist on the goal, trimming the Wild lead to 3-2. Iowa closed out the victory with an empty-net goal at 19:19 for the 4-2 score. Fedotenko scored his second of the period from Graovac.

Iowa returns home at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24 to face Grand Rapids. It’s a Taco Tuesday – presented by Taco Johns, where each fan that comes to the game receives a coupon for a free crispy beef taco from Taco Johns. It’s also a two-for-one Tuesday, where fans may purchase one attack end ticket and receive a second ticket one free, sponsored by Hits 99.9 FM. Also, those who bring in a Subway receipt may purchase a $5 game ticket at the box office. Iowa is also hosting a food drive, presented by Zerorez. Fans are encouraged to bring in a canned fruit item to receive a ticket voucher to a future regular season weekday game.

The Iowa Wild 2014-15 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team’s 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
