IOWA WILD ROLLS OUT 2016-17 PROMOTIONS SCHEDULE

Specialty Jerseys, Bobbleheads, $2 Beers, Fireworks and Premium Giveaways Highlight Home Season

DES MOINES, IA – The Iowa Wild announced on Tuesday the Promotions schedule for the 2016-17 American Hockey League (AHL) regular season.

The Wild opens the season on Friday, Oct. 14 at Wells Fargo Arena and where the team will greet fans with a 2016-17 Iowa Wild cling schedule. The Wild will also celebrate American Heart Association Night in the first game of the year. As part of the evening, the team is hosting a Healthy Food Drive to promote a healthy heart lifestyle. The popular promotion of $2 beers also makes its season debut, where fans (21 and over) may purchase domestic draft beers. The following night, Saturday, Oct.15, Iowa hosts a pregame tailgate party and welcomes patrons with a schedule poster. Fans (21 and over) may indulge in Jim Beam Drink specials for every Saturday night game of the year.

All Tuesday games feature a special deal where Kids Eat Free. On Tuesday, Oct. 18, all kids (12 and under) eat for free with one (1) Crash's Kids Meal - includes 1 hot dog, 1 soda, 1 popcorn, 1 fruit snack and an Iowa Wild prize. To round out the week, Iowa offers $2 Beer Night on Friday, Oct. 21 and Ladies night on Saturday, Oct. 22 – featuring Jim Beam drinks specials and a Barefoot Wine special.

On Oct. 25, Iowa welcomes the defending Calder Cup Champion Cleveland Monsters and all kids (12 and under) get a free Crash’s Kids Meal. On Friday, Oct. 28, the Wild holds Hat Trick or Treat Night, allowing kids to Trick or Treat on the concourse of Wells Fargo Arena prior to a home game against Milwaukee. It marks the third $2 Beer Night of the year. Fans are also permitted to skate on the ice after the game with the first of seven postgame skates throughout the year.

Iowa opens November with Pucks-N-Paws Day, where fans may bring their canine friends (ticket required) along for the game on Sunday, Nov. 6. The first 400 dogs through the gates will be given an Iowa Wild themed pet food bowl upon entry. The arena will be equipped with a dog-friendly section for seating and relief/water stations on the concourse. The team will also hold a pet food drive for local pet shelters.

Local professionals and schools from the greater Des Moines area will take advantage of Wild About Education Day on Thursday, Nov. 10 as Iowa and Charlotte faceoff at 10:30 a.m. for the annual School Day game. Last season, the Wild saw over 11,500 in attendance for the early game that featured educational programming, tying the sport of hockey to the likes of physics, geography and mathematics.

The following night is highlighted by the first of three specialty jerseys the team will don throughout the year. To celebrate Veterans Day in a partnership with the ALS Association - Iowa Chapter, the Wild will wear military style jerseys that will be available to fans in a live jerseys auction postgame. After the game, fans can bid on their favorite player’s jersey with the proceeds benefitting the local ALS chapter. Fans attending the $2 Beer Night will be handed a patriotic ball cap upon entry. The Wild embraces Youth Sports Night on Nov. 12 with a Youth T-Shirt giveaway for fans 12 and under.

Iowa returns its “Winning Wednesdays” promotion with the first of three Wednesday home games on Nov. 16. If the team is victorious, fans at the game will be given tickets to the next Wednesday game on Jan. 18.  As part of every Winning Wednesday, fans (21 and over) may purchase two tallboys for $10. The home game on Nov. 18 is also a Red Kettle Game with an appearance from the Salvation Army to collect donations for charity. The first 1,500 fans to make a donation will be given a red Iowa Wild hockey puck. The team is also holding a charitable coat drive.

After a seven-game road swing, the club returns home for three straight, starting with the third Kids Eat Free night of the year on Dec. 6. The Wild welcomes San Antonio for a pair of games on Dec. 9 and 10. Friday night is headlined with the annual Teddy Bear Toss. When Iowa scores its first goal of the night, fans are permitted to throw stuffed animals onto the ice for charity. The stuffed animals will be collected and distributed throughout the greater Des Moines area.

In the holiday spirit of giving, the Wild will hold a Toy drive, benefitting Toys for Tots on Dec. 18. The team will also hold a postgame skate for fans at Wells Fargo Arena. Prior to the holiday break, Iowa and Manitoba meet on Monday, Dec. 19 for a 7 p.m. faceoff. The game marks the first of four Monday games where fans may park for free until the Iowa Events Center parking lots are full. Patrons will also be able to purchase a soda for only $1.

Iowa hosts Rockford a day after Christmas, the second Free Parking Monday of the year. Fans will be handed an Iowa Wild player trading card set on their way through the turnstiles. After the game, fans have a chance to meet every player on the roster in a postgame autograph session on the ice. During the game, $2 hot dogs will be available for purchase.

For the first time ever, the Iowa Wild host a home game on New Year’s Eve, greeting fans with an Iowa Wild themed 2017 calendar. $2 hot dogs will also be available and the team will put on a postgame fireworks show to close out 2016.

The team returns from a lengthy road trip on Jan. 16, with $1 popcorn and a Free Parking Monday. The game marks the first and only visit of the year from the San Diego Gulls. Two days later Grand Rapids stops in for a Winning Wednesday, where fans may purchase two tallboys for $10. If the team wins, fans will be able to get free tickets to the next Wednesday home game.  

Two days later the team plays the first of back-to-back games at home against the Texas Stars. The team holds Red, Wild and Blue Night on Jan. 20 with $2 beers and a postgame skate for fans on the ice at Wells Fargo Arena. Upon entry, fans will be handed an Iowa Wild player bobblehead (to be revealed at a later date).

After the all-star break, Iowa returns to home ice to host Cleveland for a Winning Wednesday, with two tallboys available for $10. Two days later, fans may sip down $2 beers or enjoy a Barefoot Wine Special. The team will also hold a Book Drive on Feb. 10.

One of the most popular games of the season takes place on Saturday, Feb. 11 with the annual Pink in the Rink game. The team will wear Pink in the Rink themed jerseys, which fans may purchase through a live jersey auction after the game comes to a close. The proceeds from the postgame jersey auction benefit Susan G. Komen Iowa. To help with a light-up ceremony, honoring those who have battled breast cancer, the Wild will hand out LED light up Pink Thundersticks. Jim Beam drink specials are available for those who are of legal drinking age.

The team celebrates Crash’s Birthday on Feb. 19 with numerous birthday festivities. Crash will be joined by various local mascots and the crew will hold a postgame mascot autograph session. Patrons will be handed a Crash bobblehead upon entry and fans may stick around to skate on the ice after the game. The final Free Parking Monday takes place the following night.

The Wild observes St. Patrick’s Day on Mar. 18 with specialty St. Patty’s Day jerseys, which fans may bid on in the third and final postgame jersey auction of the season. The proceeds from the auction benefit the American Heart Association. Wild fans will be greeted with a St. Patrick’s/Iowa Wild themed baseball cap to help celebrate Go Green Night.    

Kids Eat Free on Mar. 28 with a visit from the Rockford IceHogs and three days later it’s Race Car Night with $2 beers. Iowa fans will be greeted with a Wild-themed family car decal on Mar. 31.

Iowa closes out the season with six home games in April, starting with SuperHero Night on Sunday, Apr. 2. The team will be handing out Youth Superman Jerseys to kids under 12. Wild fans can also hang out after the game for a postgame skate. Two days later marks the final Kids Eat Free night of the season on Tuesday, Apr. 4.

The Wild hosts Home Improvement Night on Sunday, Apr. 9 with a postgame skate. The club welcomes fans with an Iowa Wild themed tote bag. Four days later it’s Health and Wellness Night, where fans receive a water bottle upon entry.

Iowa closes out its fourth year at home with Fan Appreciation Night on Friday, Apr. 14. Fans may indulge in $2 beers and Barefoot Wine specials, as well as grab an Iowa Wild team poster on the way in the door. The team will also hand out various prizes in a postgame celebration for fans.

The 2016-17 regular season schedule begins on Oct. 14 and single-game tickets for the 2016-17 regular season will go on sale in mid-September.
