IOWA SIGNS DOWNING TO A PTO

Wild Meet Wolves in Chicago on Saturday at 7 PM

Des Moines, IA – Iowa Wild General Manager Jim Mill announced on Saturday the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed forward Jack Downing to a professional tryout agreement (PTO).

Downing, a third-year pro, joins the Wild from the ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays. The forward was third on the team in goals scored with ten and had 15 points in 21 games with South Carolina. Downing has also played in 11 AHL games for Providence this season, going scoreless with two penalty minutes. The 25-year old has played in 77 AHL games over his career, scoring 12 times and totaling 21 points. Downing played for the Binghamton Senators from 2011-12, when current Iowa Head Coach Kurt Kleinendorst was behind the bench for the Sens. The New Canaan, CT native attended the University of Vermont from 2007-11, playing in 148 Hockey East games, scoring 31 goals and adding 28 assists for 59 points. Downing played all four years at Vermont with current Iowa defenseman Kyle Medvec.  

Iowa plays in Chicago at 7 p.m. prior to returning home to host the Utica Comets on Wednesday, February 5th at 7:05 p.m. and the Chicago Wolves on Friday, February 7th at 7:05 p.m. On Wednesday, fans may purchase a $5 ticket by presenting a Subway receipt at the Wells Fargo Arena box office. Friday’s game is a $2 Beer Night, presented by 100.3 The Bus. Every Friday, fans (21 and over) may purchase $2, ten-ounce domestic drafts through the first period of play. The game also includes the Equipment Drive for Courage League Sports, presented by Scheels. The Iowa Wild will be collecting new or gently used sports equipment to benefit Courage League Sports, an adaptive sports/recreation facility serving kids and young adults.

Fans may purchase single game tickets multiple ways, either through the team's website – www.Iowawild.com, Wells Fargo Arena box office or Dahl's Ticketing. Tickets are available online at www.iowawild.com under the single game tickets tab.  Fans may also purchase tickets by calling 1-866-55-DAHLS (32457) or by visiting one of 13 Dahl's Food Stores locations in the greater Des Moines area, and in Ames. In order to purchase group tickets (10 or more), please call the Iowa Wild ticketing department at 515-564-8700.
