MINNESOTA ASSIGNS TEN PLAYERS TO IOWA

NHL CLUB TRIMS TRAINING CAMP ROSTER TO 39

Des Moines, IA – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Friday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has reassigned 12 players, reducing its training camp roster to 39 players.

The team assigned the following 10 players to the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL): D Corbin Baldwin, C Brady Brassart, LW Raphael Bussieres, G John Curry, RW Kurtis Gabriel, D Alex Gudbranson, G Johan Gustafsson, D Colton Jobke, RW Zack Mitchell and LW Ryan Walters.

Gustafsson (12-20-4) played in 40 games for Iowa last season, posting a .903 SV% in his rookie campaign. He is joined by fellow goaltender John Curry, who was 7-9-2 for Iowa, boasting 2.62 GAA and a .920 SV%.

Second-year forward Raphael Bussieres returns to Des Moines, where he played in 61 games as a rookie with five goals and 14 assists for 19 points. Rookies Brady Brassart and Kurtis Gabriel, each joined the team in early spring are also back for their first full pro season. Gabriel registered four points (2g,2a) in eight games with Iowa, while Brassart scored his first pro goal in nine AHL games. Rookie forwards Ryan Walters and Zack Mitchell have also joined Iowa.

Baldwin returns to the Iowa blueline, which he patrolled for 64 games in 2013-14. The 6-foot-5 defenseman led the team with 129 penalty minutes. Fellow defender Colton Jobke returns for his second season, he was scoreless in 11 games for Iowa last season. Defenseman Alex Gudbranson turns pro after five OHL seasons.

The Minnesota Wild also assigned defensemen Dylan Labbe (Shawinigan, QMJHL) and Hunter Warner (Prince Albert, WHL) to their respective junior teams.

The Iowa Wild continues training camp at Wells Fargo Arena over the next week. The Iowa Wild will open two practices to the general public on Saturday, Sept. 27 and Sunday, Sept. 28. The team practices from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Fans may park in the North Lot for a fee of $7.00 and enter through the North Doors.

Iowa plays a home-and-home preseason set against the Chicago Wolves. The two teams will meet at Wells Fargo Arena in the first meeting, set for Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. There will be a full-team autograph session following the preseason game. Iowa Wild season ticket holders (full, 21-game, 10-game) will be admitted to the preseason game free of charge and will also be able to pick up their season tickets starting at 4:30 p.m. – when the doors officially open for the game. Preseason tickets are on sale at the Wells Fargo Arena box office or by calling (515) 564-8700. Advanced tickets are priced at $6.00 until the day of the game, when the price increases to $8.00. A portion of the proceeds from a silent auction will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Iowa. Parking is available in the North lot for $7.00 for all patrons.

 

Iowa wraps up its two-game set with Chicago at the Wolves practice facility in Hoffman Estates, IL. The Wolves will host the Wild on Friday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Triphahn Community Center Ice Arena, located at 1685 W. Higgins Road, Hoffman Estates, IL. Wild fans interested in attending the game may purchase tickets for $8.00 at the main counter of the Triphahn Community Center.

The Iowa Wild 2014-15 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center and begins on the road Oct. 10 in San Antonio. Fans may purchase seats to the Home Opener on Friday, Oct. 17 against the Milwaukee Admirals at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
