Bertschy, 22 (4/5/94), played in three games with Minnesota this season, making his NHL debut on Nov. 7 in the Wild’s 1-0 win against Tampa Bay. The 5-foot-10, 189-pound native of Fribourg, Switzerland, totaled 35 points (11-24=35) in 72 games with the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL) this season, leading the team in games played, assists, and shots on goal (187), while ranking third in scoring. His shot total ranked second amongst AHL rookies. He also recorded the first and only hat trick in Iowa Wild history, scoring three times against Charlotte on Jan. 29, a 5-4 OT win at home.

This marks the fourth time Bertschy has represented Switzerland in international competition. He played for Switzerland at two IIHF World Junior Championships, tallying five points (3-2=5) in six games in 2013 to rank T-2nd on the team in goals and T-3rd in scoring, after ranking T-2nd on the club with four points (2-2=4) in six games in 2012. Bertschy also helped Switzerland to a third-place finish at the World Junior Challenge in 2012-13, ranking second on the Swiss roster with six points (3-3=6) in five games. He was named to Switzerland’s preliminary roster for the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship but did not participate due to injury.

Bertschy collected 30 points (14-16=30), a plus-14 rating and 26 PIM in 44 games with SC Bern in the Swiss League in 2014-15. He was selected by Minnesota in the sixth round (158th overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
