IOWA WILD ANNOUNCE TV GAMES ON MEDIACOM

Wild Will Televise Five Games on Mediacom 22

Des Moines, IA – The Iowa Wild, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild, announced on Friday a television broadcast agreement with Mediacom.

Our new partnership with Mediacom provides us with an alternate platform to reach fans all over central Iowa,” said Iowa Wild President Todd Frederickson. “As we continue our growth as a sports entity in the state, we want to connect with sports fans in the area, Mediacom helps us do that.”

Five total games will be shown live on Mediacom 22 starting with Opening Night on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 7:05 p.m. against the Oklahoma City Barons at Wells Fargo Arena. The team will also broadcast games live on Nov. 2, Dec. 20, Feb. 25 and Mar. 25. Broadcaster Joe O'Donnell will call the games on television.

Sports fans are thrilled to add the Iowa Wild to the teams they support, and Mediacom is just as excited to televise a series of action-packed games so that Iowans throughout the state can follow the players in this great hockey franchise,” said Steve Purcell, Mediacom’s group vice president.

O'Donnell, the Voice of the Wild, enters his sixth season in the Minnesota Wild organization as Director of Broadcasting and Corporate Partnerships for the NHL club's AHL affiliate. He spent the last five years in Houston as Voice of the Aeros. In all, the 33-year old begins his ninth season of professional hockey play-by-play. The Havertown, PA native has called the AHL's 2011 Calder Cup Finals, as well as the ECHL's 2007 All-Star Game and 2007 Kelly Cup Finals. O'Donnell was named the ECHL's National Conference Broadcaster of the Year in 2007.

Mediacom Communications is the nation's eighth largest cable television company and one of the leading cable operators focused on serving the smaller cities in the United States, with a significant concentration in the Midwestern region. MC22 is a basic cable channel available to all Mediacom customers in 310 Iowa communities and communities in adjacent states.  It is used to deliver exclusive programming of local and regional interest.

Mediacom’s plan is for live broadcasts of those five games - replays that will be dropped into the schedule at various times over the 10 days that follow the live game. Better yet – viewers that “time shift” can simply go to our OnDemand channel (#1) and select local programming to watch at anytime. The Iowa Wild games will also be included there. Although we know sports fans prefer the LIVE experience, Medicom has a steady and growing number of viewers spending time watching OnDemand.
