IOWA SIGNS LELAND IRVING, RECALLS ARCHAMBAULT

Wild Signs Forward Mathew Neal

DES MOINES, IA – Iowa Wild General Manager Brent Flahr on Friday announced the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed goalie Leland Irving to an AHL contract. The team also announced that forward Olivier Archambault has been recalled from the Quad City Mallards – Iowa’s ECHL affiliate. In addition, the team signed forward Matthew Neal to a PTO (professional tryout agreement).

Irving, 27 (4/11/88), enters his eighth pro season after spending the 2014-15 campaign in the KHL with Ufa Salavat Yulayev. He posted a 2-8-1 mark with a 3.35 GAA and a .883 SV%. Irving is a veteran of five AHL seasons, spending significant time in the Calgary Flames farm system. In 194 career, AHL appearances, the Swan Hills, AB native is 121-109-27 with a 2.50 GAA and a .907 SV%. He has made 13 NHL appearances with Calgary, going 3-4-4 with a 3.25 GAA and a .902 SV%. Irving was drafted by Calgary in the first round (#26 overall) of 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Archambault, 22 (2/16/93), enters his second pro season after splitting last year between Iowa and Alaska (ECHL). After signing an AHL SPC in October, he was assigned to Alaska and played the first half of the season. In 24 games with Iowa, the left wing scored four goals and added five assists for nine points. At the time of his AHL recall in January, Archambault was among the ECHL rookie scoring leaders. He finished with 20 goals and 18 assists for 38 points in 38 games played, earning ECHL All-Star honors. For his AHL career, Archambault has played in 34 games with five goals and 11 points.

Neal, 24 (11/22/91), enters his first pro season. After finishing his collegiate career in 2014-15, Neal played in seven games for Quad City in the ECHL, securing one goal and six points. The forward played four seasons in the ECAC for R.P.I., and in the 2012-13 season, he finished first on the team in assists with 22, and second on the team in points with 30. He played in 127 NCAA games during his tenure at R.P.I. and tallied 76 career points.

Iowa hosts Opening Night on Saturday, October 10th when the Charlotte Checkers come to town. The puck drops at 7 p.m. The Wild hosts a pregame tailgate party outside of Wells Fargo Arena from 4-6:30 p.m., celebrating the team’s third season in Des Moines. The first 5,000 fans to the game receive an Iowa Wild Cling Schedule, presented by Hicklin Garage, KXNO 1460, and The Bus 100.3. The Wild also hosts Charlotte again on Sunday at 5 p.m. Sunday’s game is Kid’s Opening Night and the first 2,500 fans to the game receive an Iowa Wild poster schedule.

Fans may purchase single-game tickets multiple ways, either through the team's website – www.Iowawild.com, the Wells Fargo Arena box office or participating Hy-Vee food stores. Tickets are available online at www.Iowawild.com under the single game tickets tab. The Wells Fargo Arena box office is open Monday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday. For Saturday game days, the box office will open at 10 a.m. For Sunday game days the box office will open at 12 p.m. Fans may also purchase tickets by calling 1-844-55-HYVEE or by visiting participating Hy-Vee food stores locations in the greater Des Moines area. The Iowa Wild 2015-16 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team’s 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play its 2015-16 season at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
