Jul 7, 2020

Iowa Wild General Manager Tom Kurvers announced today the re-signing of defenseman Keaton Thompson to a one-year, AHL contract for the 2020-21 season.

Thompson, 24, (9/14/95), finished with 14 points (2g, 12a) in 45 games with Iowa in 2019-20. Originally signed by the organization on Oct. 2, 2019, Thompson led all Wild defensemen with a plus-14 rating, ranking second on the club overall in plus/minus.

A Devil’s Lake, ND native, Thompson earned an assist in the 2019-20 season opener versus the Rockford IceHogs and he picked up his first goal with the Wild on Nov. 16, 2019 on the road against the Chicago Wolves.

Thompson, 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, has registered 53 points (11g, 42a) in 214 career AHL contests between San Diego and Iowa.  He was drafted in the third round (No. 87) by Anaheim in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, and helped lead the University of North Dakota to the 2016 NCAA Championship as a junior.
