Forward Returns to NHL Club

DES MOINES, IA  – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Saturday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled forward Tyler Graovac (pronounced Grey-o-vac) from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL). The team also announced defenseman Jonas Brodin (pronounced JOE-nuhs broh-DEEN) has been placed on Injured Reserve and is expected to miss three-to-six weeks with a broken foot suffered on Feb. 4. Iowa Wild General Manager Brent Flahr announced that forward Jared Knight has been recalled from the Quad City Mallards, Iowa’s ECHL affiliate.

Graovac, 22 (4/27/93), was injured in the Wild’s season-opening 5-4 win at Colorado on Oct. 8, winning 9-of-12 faceoffs and skated a career-high13:37. The 6-foot-5, 212-pound native of Brampton, Ontario, underwent successful bilateral core muscle repair surgery on Nov. 3 and was activated from Injured Reserve and assigned to Iowa on Dec. 12. Graovac has collected seven points (2-5=7) and 52 shots on goal in 19 games with Iowa this season. He has skated in four career NHL contests with Minnesota after being selected by the Wild in the seventh round (191st overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Graovac wears sweater No. 44 with Minnesota.

Knight, 24 (1/16/92), returns from Quad City, where he’s played in three games with a goal and an assist for two points. He has played in 31 games for Iowa this season, scoring once and totaling six points. Minnesota acquired him from the Boston Bruins on Mar.1, 2015 (trade deadline) in exchange for forward Zack Phillips. Since joining Iowa, Knight has played in 47 games, scoring four goals and adding nine assists for 13 points. The Battle Creek, MI native has played parts of four seasons with the AHL’s Providence Bruins from 2010-2015. For his AHL career, Knight has played in 151 games, scoring ten times and adding 27 assists for 37 points. The 5-foot-11, 196-pounder was drafted by Boston in the second round (#32 overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

The Wild returns home next weekend for a pair of games against the Grand Rapids Griffins, beginning with Pink in the Rink on Friday, Feb. 12. Iowa is teaming up with Susan G. Komen of Iowa to raise awareness for breast cancer with Pink in the Rink Night. The team will don pink-in-the-rink themed jerseys and the first 1,000 fans will receive pink t-shirts courtesy of 107.5 KISS FM. Fans are encouraged to wear all pink to the game for a pink out. Friday’s game includes a shootout challenge and ceremonial-puck drop with breast cancer survivors. A special lighting ceremony is also planned for all survivors and those who have perished. The Wild will also be hosting a postgame jersey auction following the game. Friday is a $2 beer night, sponsored by 100.3 The Bus. The “Bring Your Buds Bundle” is also available for purchase, including one ticket, one 16 oz. Budweiser or Bud Light at the game, one hotdog, one popcorn, $1 off a Budweiser or Bud Light 25 oz. can during the Wild game, and one free beer at Carl’s Place following the game. The Wild and Griffins faceoff again on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. Saturday is Crash’s Birthday and the team is hosting a Mascot Party and Super Hero Day, sponsored by NASH FM and NASH ICON. The first 1,500 fans receive a super hero poster. The team concludes the evening with a postgame mascot autograph session. Fans are encouraged to bring their own skates for a free postgame skate, courtesy of Grip-Tite Foundation Repair. Saturday is also Ladies Night, presented by Jim Beam and NASH FM. Ladies Night deals include $1 off glasses of wine, $5 for a regular Beam Orchard Twist, and $10 for the Beam Orchard Twist in a mason jar. “Bring Your Buds Bundle” packages will also be available for purchase.

The Wells Fargo Arena box office is open Monday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday.
