After a scoreless first period, Milwaukee tallied to take a 1-0 lead at 7:10 of the middle frame. Charging up the ice, forward Max Reinhart slipped a cross-ice pass to Pontus Aberg as the Admirals entered the Iowa zone. Aberg snuck in behind the Wild defense and lifted a backhander past Leland Irving for his 14th goal of the season and the only goal of the period.

Iowa tied the game 1-1 at 8:52 of the third period.  Left wing Brett Bulmer drove the puck into the Milwaukee zone and rifled a wrist shot from the right-wing wall.  Jumping into the play, defenseman Tyson Strachan one-touched the rebound across the Admirals crease to Marc Hagel. The Wild left wing planted the puck into the Milwaukee net, beating Jusse Saros for his third goal of the year, eventually forcing overtime.

After a scoreless overtime the two teams went to a shootout. Milwaukee’s first two shooters, Kevin Fiala and Frederick Gaudreau, were both stuffed by Irving. Jusse Saros denied Iowa’s first two shooters as well, as Zack Mitchell and Tyler Graovac were both held off the board. In the third round, Matt White beat Irving for Milwaukee, followed by Saros’ save on Zac Dalpe, securing the Admirals’ win.
