Iowa Continues Road Trip in Winnipeg on Wednesday at 7 PM

WINNIPEG, MB – The Iowa Wild (20-33-3-4, 47 points) defeated the Manitoba Moose (18-32-4-5, 45 points) 2-1 in front of 4,790 fans at the MTS Centre on Monday night. Iowa goalie Leland Irving (10-17-4) held Manitoba scoreless for the first 58 minutes of the game and made 32 saves on 33 shots in the victory. Iowa forward Marc Hagel and defenseman Guillaume Gelinas each scored a goal in Iowa’s third consecutive win over Manitoba. Moose goalie Eric Comrie (12-20-7) stopped 27 of 29 shots in the loss. Forward Patrice Cormier scored the lone Manitoba goal. Iowa and Manitoba rematch on Wednesday night at the MTS Centre at 7 p.m.

Wild forward Marc Hagel opened the scoring with 0.5 seconds remaining in the second period, helping Iowa grab a 1-0 lead. Center Grayson Downing tallied the lone assist on the goal. Downing pushed an offensive-zone face off toward the net in the closing seconds of the period. Crashing the net, Hagel picked up the puck, sliding a backhand shot under goalie Eric Comrie’s for his fourth goal of the season.

Iowa defenseman Guillaume Gelinas scored a power-play goal at 2:58 of the third period, giving the Wild a 2-0 lead. Forwards Jordan Schroeder and Grayson Downing each tallied an assist on the goal, giving Downing a two-point night. Schroeder corralled the puck at the left circle, feeding a cross-ice pass to Downing at the right face-off dot. Comrie made a sprawling save on a wrist shot from Downing, leaving the puck in the crease. Standing in front of the goal, Gelinas pushed the puck into the open net for his second goal of the season. Manitoba forward Patrice Cormier scored with 1:29 remaining in the period, cutting the Iowa lead to 2-1. Defenseman Brenden Kichton and forward Chase De Leo each tallied an assist on the goal. Kichton received a pass from De Leo, wristing a shot on net from the left side. Goalie Leland Irving made the initial save but Cormier shoveled the rebound into the back of the net for his 12th goal of the season.

The Wild continues a seven-game road trip on Wednesday, Mar. 9 at 7 PM in Manitoba. The team finishes the road trip in Milwaukee on Friday, Mar. 11 before returning home on Sunday, Mar. 13 to host the Milwaukee Admirals at 5 p.m. The Subway/Star 102.5 Combo Pack is available for purchase starting at $12. The Wells Fargo Arena box office is open Monday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday.
