Goalie Joins NHL Club On The Road

Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher announced on Friay the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled goaltender Steve Michalek (pronounced MIKE-ah-lick) under emergency conditions from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL). Iowa Wild General Manager Brent Flahr also announced the team is expected to add an emergency back up goaltender for this weekend's games in California.

Michalek, 22 (8/6/93), is 6-3-0 with a 2.46 goals-against average (GAA) and a .919 save percentage (SV%) in nine games with Iowa this season and 12-8-4 with a 2.42 GAA, a .924 SV% and two shutouts in 24 games with the Quad City Mallards (ECHL). The 6-foot-3, 205-pound native of Hartford, Conn., went 21-13-3 with a 2.28 GAA, a .924 SV% and three shutouts in 37 games for Harvard (ECAC) last season helping the Crimson win the ECAC Championship and advance to the NCAA tournament. He set Harvard goalie records with 37 games played and 1,029 saves. Michalek was selected by Minnesota in the sixth round (161st overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft in Saint Paul. He has not appeared in an NHL game and wears sweater No. 50 with Minnesota.

Iowa heads to the west coast on Friday, Mar. 18 for a visit to the Stockton Heat. The Wild also makes a stop in San Jose on Saturday, Mar. 19 before returning to Wells Fargo Arena on Friday, Mar. 25 to host the Chicago Wolves at 7 p.m. Friday’s game is a $2 Beer Night presented by 100.3 The Bus. The first 1,000 fans to the game receive a T-shirt courtesy of IWork and Play. The “Bring Your Buds Bundle” is also available, featuring one ticket, one 16 oz. Bud or Bud Light at the game, one hot dog, one popcorn, $1 off a Bud or Bud Light 25 oz. can during the game, and one free beer at Carl’s Place following the game.

The Wild hosts Chicago for a rematch on Saturday, Mar. 19 at 12:30 p.m. Saturday’s game features the Wild’s “Go Green Game”, sponsored by NASH FM and NASH ICON. The first 1,000 fans to the game receive an Iowa Wild water bottle courtesy of Water Works Park. The “Legends Brewdog Pack” is also available on Saturday, including one of each: ticket, beer, hotdog, and a free Bud or Bud Light at Legends American Grill. The Stanley Cup is expected to make a visit to Wells Fargo Arena for Saturday’s game. It will be displayed on the concourse throughout the game. The Iowa Wild is also offering a specialty package that includes access to a breakfast buffet, one drink ticket, and a ticket the game. The package is extremely limited and starts at $50 ($35 for Iowa Wild VIP Members) and begins at 10:30 a.m. A professional photographer will be in attendance for those who would like a professional portrait.

Fans may purchase single-game tickets multiple ways, either through the team's website – www.Iowawild.com, the Wells Fargo Arena box office or participating Hy-Vee food stores. Tickets are available online at www.Iowawild.com under the single game tickets tab. The Wells Fargo Arena box office is open Monday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday. For Saturday game days, the box office will open at 10 a.m. For Sunday game days the box office will open at 12 p.m. Fans may also purchase tickets by calling 1-844-55-HYVEE or by visiting participating Hy-Vee food stores locations in the greater Des Moines area. The Iowa Wild 2015-16 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team’s 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play its 2015-16 season at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
