Iowa Returns to Wells Fargo Arena on Friday

SAN JOSE, CA – The Iowa Wild (21-36-4-4, 50 points) were defeated by the San Jose Barracuda (27-21-7-3, 64 points) 3-2 in front of 5,502 fans at the SAP Center on Saturday night. Barracuda forward Jeremy Morin scored on the power play with 1:32 left in overtime, helping San Jose grab the additional point. Forwards Trevor Parkes and Ryan Carpenter added a goal each in the overtime thriller. San Jose goalie Aaron Dell (13-12-5) made 29 saves on 31 shots in the victory. Iowa goalie Leland Irving (10-19-5) stopped 30 of 33 shots in the defeat. Forwards Brett Bulmer and Christoph Bertschy scored one goal each in the Iowa loss. Iowa returns to Wells Fargo Arena on Friday, Mar. 25 to host the Chicago Wolves at 7 p.m.

San Jose forward Trevor Parkes scored 2:15 into the first period, helping the Barracuda grab a 1-0 lead. Forward John McCarthy and defenseman Gus Young each tallied an assist on the opening goal. McCarthy attempted a wrap around, losing the puck to the left boards. Young pinched on the play, taking a slapshot from the left hash mark. Goalie Leland Irving made the initial save but Parkes batted the puck out of midair and into the back of the net for his 14th goal of the season. The Barracuda grew its lead to 2-0 thanks to a goal from forward Ryan Carpenter at 14:14 of the period. Defensemen Karl Stollery and Mirco Mueller each earned an assist on the power-play goal. Stollery set up the San Jose power play at the left point, feeding a centering pass to Mueller. Carpenter received a pass from Mueller at the right point, walking the puck to the top of the faceoff circle. He wristed a shot on net, beating Irving on the glove side for his 14th goal of the season.

Wild left wing Brett Bulmer scored 8:00 into the second period, cutting the Barracuda lead to 2-1. Forward Kurtis Gabriel and defenseman and Zach Palmquist earned an assist each on the goal. Palmquist hit Bulmer with a stretch pass through the neutral zone, springing Bulmer on a breakaway. Entering the zone uncontested, he slid the puck to his backhand and beat goalie Aaron Dell for his third goal of the season. Iowa forward Christoph Bertschy scored on a breakaway at 10:34 of the period, tying the game 2-2. Forward Brady Brassart earned the lone assist on the goal after causing a turnover in the defensive zone. Brassart picked off a Barracuda pass, springing Bertschy with a breakaway through the neutral zone. Dell stopped the initial shot but the rebound deflected off Bertschy and into the net for his 10th goal of the season.

Barracuda forward Jeremy Morin scored on the power play with 1:32 remaining in overtime, leading San Jose to a 3-2 victory. Forward Bryan Lerg and defenseman Karl Stollery each earned an assist on the game-winning goal. Morin corralled the puck at the left faceoff dot and wristed the puck over the shoulder of Irving for his 14th goal of the season and the Barracuda victory.

The Wild returns to Wells Fargo Arena on Friday, Mar. 25 to host the Chicago Wolves at 7 p.m. Friday’s game is a $2 Beer Night presented by 100.3 The Bus. The first 1,000 fans to the game receive a T-shirt courtesy of IWork and Play. The “Bring Your Buds Bundle” is also available, featuring one ticket, one 16 oz. Bud or Bud Light at the game, one hot dog, one popcorn, $1 off a Bud or Bud Light 25 oz. can during the game, and one free beer at Carl’s Place following the game.

The Wild hosts Chicago for a rematch on Saturday, Mar. 26 at 12:30 p.m. Saturday’s game features the Wild’s “Go Green Game”, sponsored by NASH FM and NASH ICON. The first 1,000 fans to the game receive an Iowa Wild water bottle courtesy of Water Works Park. The “Legends Brewdog Pack” is also available on Saturday, including one of each: ticket, beer, hotdog, and a free Bud or Bud Light at Legends American Grill. The Stanley Cup is expected to make a visit to Wells Fargo Arena for Saturday’s game. It will be displayed on the concourse throughout the game. The Iowa Wild is also offering a specialty package that includes access to a breakfast buffet, one drink ticket, and a ticket the game. The package is extremely limited and starts at $50 ($35 for Iowa Wild VIP Members) and begins at 10:30 a.m. A professional photographer will be in attendance for those who would like a professional portrait.

Fans may purchase single-game tickets multiple ways, either through the team's website – www.Iowawild.com, the Wells Fargo Arena box office or participating Hy-Vee food stores. Tickets are available online at www.Iowawild.com under the single game tickets tab. The Wells Fargo Arena box office is open Monday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday. For Saturday game days, the box office will open at 10 a.m. For Sunday game days the box office will open at 12 p.m. Fans may also purchase tickets by calling 1-844-55-HYVEE or by visiting participating Hy-Vee food stores locations in the greater Des Moines area.
