Rockford winger Terry Broadhurst added an insurance goal in the third period for the two-goal win, which ended the team’s four-game losing skid. Rockford goalie Antti Raanta (6-4-0) stopped 24 Iowa shots to preserve the win. Iowa goalie Darcy Kuemper (3-4-0) made 24 saves in the defeat. The IceHogs jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead with a pair of goals 2:33 apart in the first 7:55 of the first period. Defenseman Bobby Shea opened the scoring at 5:22 of the contest, sneaking a shot through traffic from the blueline. Left wing Pat Mulane and forward Byron Froese assisted on Shea’s first goal of the season, which floated past Iowa goalie Darcy Kuemper for the 1-0 lead. Moments later, the Hogs extended their lead to 2-0 at 7:55, as forward Brad Winchester snapped a wrist shot from the high slot for his fourth goal of the year. Forward Terry Broadhurst and defenseman Theo Peckham each had an assist on the goal. Kuemper got a piece of Winchester’s shot, but the puck dribbled in behind him. Iowa used its power play to get on the scoreboard at 10:59. Defenseman Brian Connelly drove the puck to the Rockford net and goalie Antti Raanta made the initial save. Forward Erik Haula shifted the rebound across the crease to Jason Zucker, who blasted a one-timer into the open net for his fourth goal of the year and a 2-1 Wild deficit.

After a scoreless second period, Rockford opened up a 3-1 lead at 11:20 of the third period. Center Terry Broadhurst was sprung over the Iowa blueline on a feed from defenseman Adam Clendening.
