Iowa Hosts Manitoba Wednesday Night

DES MOINES, IA – The Iowa Wild (21-38-4-4, 50 points) were defeated by the Chicago Wolves (30-30-5-3, 68 points) 2-1 in front of 7,731 fans at Wells Fargo Arena on Saturday afternoon. The Wolves squeaked by the Wild for their 11th consecutive win in Des Moines despite allowing 46 shots on goal. Chicago goalie Pheonix Copley (13-16-3) stole the show with a career-high 45 saves, leading the Wolves to victory. Forwards Evan Trupp and Bryce Gervais scored a goal each in the Wolves win. Wild goalie Leland Irving (10-20-5) made 14 stops on 16 shots in the loss. Forward Colton Beck scored the lone goal in the Iowa loss. Iowa hosts Manitoba on Wednesday, Mar. 30 at 7 p.m.

Wolves forward Evan Trupp scored with 44 seconds remaining in period one, putting Chicago out in front 1-0. Defensemen Jared Nightingale and Hubert Labrie picked up an assist each on the goal. Nightingale fed a cross-ice pass along the blueline to Labrie. Standing in the slot, Trupp redirected a Labrie wrist shot past goalie Leland Irving for his seventh goal of the season.

Chicago forward Bryce Gervais scored 2:20 into the second period, extending the Wolves lead to 2-0. Gervais chipped the puck off the boards to himself as he entered the Iowa zone. The rookie wristed a shot from the right face-off dot, beating Irving under the glove for his first professional goal.

Wild forward Colton Beck scored with 1:35 remaining in the game, cutting the deficit to 2-1. Defensemen Tyson Strachan and Zach Palmquist picked up an assist each on the goal. Iowa pulled Irving for the extra attacker, applying heavy pressure in the offensive zone. Beck scooped up a rebound and shoveled the puck into the back of the net for his fifth goal of the season.

Iowa welcomes Manitoba to Wells Fargo Arena on Wednesday, Mar. 30 for a 7 p.m. game. The Wild continues “Winning Wednesday” courtesy of NASH ICON. Every fan in attendance receives a ticket to the next Wednesday game (Apr. 13) if the Iowa Wild wins. The game also features “Jim Beam and NASH FM Guys Night”, consisting Beam Orchard Twist drink specials of $5 for a regular and $10 for a mason jar Orchard Beam Twist.

The Wild hosts Manitoba for a rematch on Friday, Apr. 1 at 7 p.m. Friday’s game is “Race Car Night” and Bobblehead Night courtesy of Krist Insurance. The first 1,000 fans receive a bobblehead of the Iowa Wild’s all-time leading scorer, Tyler Graovac. The game features $2 beer night presented by 100.3 The Bus and the “Bring Your Buds Bundle”, including one ticket, one 16 oz. Bud or Bud Light at Wild game, one hotdog, one popcorn, $1 off a Bud or Bud Light 25 oz. can during the Wild game, and a free beer at Carl’s Place following the game.

Tickets are available online at www.Iowawild.com under the single game tickets tab. The Wells Fargo Arena box office is open Monday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday. For Saturday game days, the box office will open at 10 a.m. For Sunday game days the box office will open at 12 p.m. Fans may also purchase tickets by calling 1-844-55-HYVEE or by visiting participating Hy-Vee food stores locations in the greater Des Moines area. The Iowa Wild 2015-16 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team’s 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena.
