Bankers Trust and Iowa Wild Help Local Family Purchase Their First Home.

DES MOINES, IA – The Iowa Wild, Bankers Trust and HOME, Inc., have partnered to help a Des Moines family achieve the dream of homeownership.

Seeking a better life, Kham Kong and his family moved to the United States from Thailand over seven years ago. Since moving to the U.S., Kham focused on his education and graduated from Lincoln High School in 2013. He works hard at Loffredo Fresh Produce in West Des Moines to provide for his family.

Due to government constraints, the Kong family was unable to buy a home in Thailand. Thanks to mortgage financing from Bankers Trust and the Home Ownership Counseling program offered through HOME, Inc. (the oldest private, non-profit housing organization in Des Moines), they are now homeowners.

The counseling program helped Kham develop a plan that included budgeting, affordability assessments and credit maintenance. HOME, Inc., even helped Kham find a home that had been renovated specifically for individuals who completed the counseling program. The Iowa Wild staff and players were happy to reward Kham for his hard work with an additional $1,000 toward the down payment on his family’s new home.

“Bankers Trust is proud to help Kham and thousands of others achieve the dream of owning a home. We know increasing homeownership makes families more financially secure and strengthens communities,” said Emily Abbas, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. “Buying a home requires a lot of hard work, too, HOME, Inc., and the Iowa Wild were great partners who helped Kham and his family make their dream a reality.”
