Forward Re-Joins Team. Defenseman Off To ECHL

DES MOINES, IA – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Monday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has reassigned forward Christoph Bertschy (pronounced Burr-chee) to the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL). In addition, Iowa Wild General Manager Brent Flahr announced on Tuesday that defenseman Dylan Labbe (luh-bay) has been assigned to the Quad City Mallards, Iowa’s ECHL affiliate.

Bertschy, 22 (4/5/94), did not play in Monday’s game in Dallas after being recalled Sunday. The native of Fribourg, Switzerland has registered one assist in five games with Minnesota and four points (1-3=4) in 10 games with Iowa this season. The 5-foot-10, 186-pound forward notched his first career NHL point with an assist against Dallas on Oct. 29. Bertschy was selected by Minnesota in the sixth round (158th overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Labbe has yet to make his season debut after having surgery last April to repair a torn ACL in his right knee. He has been cleared to play but has not appeared in a game for Iowa this season. Last season, Labbe played in 54 games as rookie for the Wild. In his first full season, the young defender scored four goals and totaled six points. For his AHL career, Labbe has played in 68 games, scoring five goals and adding four assists for nine points.  The St. Benjamin, PQ native played his junior hockey in the QMJHL from 2011-14. In 193 games, Labbe scored 31 times and totaled 106 points for his junior career.  Labbe was drafted by Minnesota in the fourth round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft (#107 overall).

The Wild continues a seven-game road trip through December 3. The team plays games in Chicago, Manitoba, Charlotte and Grand Rapids. The Wild returns back to Des Moines to welcome the Milwaukee Admirals on Tuesday, Dec. 6. The game is Kids Eat Free Tuesday, sponsored by 96.5 Country and Goodhue Nolte Insurance.
