Forward Joins NHL Club For First Time This Season

DES MOINES, IA – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Thursday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled forward Kurtis Gabriel from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL). 


Gabriel, 23 (4/20/93), has collected four points (3-1=4) and 35 penalty minutes (PIM) in 20 games with Iowa this season. The 6-foot-4, 211-pound native of Newmarket, Ont., made his NHL debut on Nov. 10, 2015 against Winnipeg and has recorded 10 PIM in three career NHL contests with Minnesota. He made his Stanley Cup Playoff debut in Game 3 of the 2016 Western Conference Quarterfinal against Dallas on April 16, 2016 and appeared in the final four games of the series, ranking fourth on the team in hits. Gabriel recorded 10 points (6-4=10) and a team-leading 137 PIM in 66 games with Iowa last season. He was originally selected by Minnesota in the third round (81st overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and wears sweater No. 63 with Minnesota.

The Iowa Wild continues a seven-game road trip through December 3. The team plays games in Chicago, Manitoba, Charlotte and Grand Rapids. The Wild returns back to Des Moines to welcome the Milwaukee Admirals on Tuesday, Dec. 6. The game is Kids Eat Free Tuesday, sponsored by 96.5 Country and Goodhue Nolte Insurance. All kids 12 and under eat free with (1) Crash’s Kids Meal, which includes one hotdog, one soda, one popcorn, one fruit snack and an Iowa Wild prize.
