Wild and Rockford Faceoff in Des Moines Dec. 26 at 3 PM

DES MOINES, IA – The Iowa Wild (13-14-2-1, 29 points) were defeated by the Manitoba Moose (12-12-2-2, 28 points) 2-1 in front of 3,677 fans on Monday night at Wells Fargo Arena. Moose forward Kyle Connor scored the game-winning goal with 1:13 left in regulation, breaking Manitoba’s six-game winless streak. Moose goalie Eric Comrie (7-8-2) stopped 21 of 22 shots in the win. Wild goalie Steve Michalek (5-7-1) stopped 21 of 23 shots in the defeat. Chase De Leo also scored a goal for the Manitoba win. Teemu Pulkkinen scored the only goal for the Wild as Iowa saw its four-game points streak snapped. Iowa and Rockford play in Des Moines on Dec. 26 at 7 PM.

Moose forward Chase De Leo opened the scoring at 6:14 of the first period, giving Manitoba a 1-0 lead. Scott Glennie helped set up De Leo’s sixth goal of the season. De Leo swept in the rebound off Glennie’s shot. Wild forward Teemu Pulkkinen scored his ninth goal of the season at 18:42 of the period, tying the game 1-1. After forcing a turnover in Manitoba’s zone, Mario Lucia carried the puck towards the right-wing corner and slipped a backdoor pass to Pulkkinen.

After a scoreless second period, Moose forward Kyle Connor scored his second goal of the season at 18:47 of the third period, giving Manitoba the 2-1 lead. Forward Jimmy Lodge and defenseman Kevin Czuczman helped set up the goal. Connor shot the puck from the high slot, beating Michalek over the blocker.

Iowa closes out the three-game home stand with the Rockford IceHogs on Monday, Dec. 26 at 7 PM. It is Free Parking Monday (until the IEC lots are full), sponsored by Nash Icon and KGGO. Fans may purchase a $2 Hotdog at the game. Upon entry, fans are handed a full Player Trading Card set (while supplies last), sponsored by KIOA and The Rookie. After the game, the Wild players will participate in a full-team autograph session for one hour. The Subway Combo Pack is available for purchase at the game. Fans may also bring a Subway receipt to purchase a ticket for only $5.

The Wild will play a pair of road games prior to returning home to play the Chicago Wolves on Saturday, Dec. 31 at 3 PM. The first 1,500 fans to arrive at the game receive a 2017 Iowa Wild calendar, presented by Edwards Graphic Arts. It is also a $2 Hotdog night and there is a postgame fireworks show at the conclusion of the game.

The Iowa Wild 2016-17 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center: and runs from October through April. The Wells Fargo Arena box office is open Monday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday. For Saturday game days, the box office will open at 10 a.m. For Sunday game days the box office will open at 12 p.m. Fans may also purchase tickets by calling 1-844-55-HYVEE or by visiting participating Hy-Vee food stores locations in the greater Des Moines area.
