MINNESOTA WILD PLACES JOSH HARDING ON INJURED RESERVE

GOALTENDER JOHAN GUSTAFSSON RECALLED FROM IOWA

Des Moines, IA – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Wednesday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has placed goaltender Josh Harding on Injured Reserve and recalled goaltender Johan Gustafsson (pronounced JOE-hahn GUHS-tahf-suhn) from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL). Iowa Wild General Manager Jim Mill also announced the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed goaltender Thomas Heemskerk to a PTO (professional tryout agreement).

“Over the next week, Josh will make a minor adjustment to his treatment protocol,” said Fletcher. “Josh feels great and he looks forward to rejoining our team for our game in Winnipeg on Dec. 27.”

Harding, 29 (6/18/84), made 29 saves through overtime and stopped all three Canucks shootout attempts in a 3-2 shootout win versus Vancouver Tuesday night in Saint Paul, moving to 18-5-3 in 27 games this season. The native of Regina, Sask., ranks first in the NHL in goals-against average (1.51), tied for first in shutouts (3), second in save percentage (.939) and is tied for second in wins (18).

Gustafsson, 21 (2/28/92), is 4-4-0 with a 2.95 GAA, a .898 SV% and one shutout in nine games with Iowa this season. The 6-foot-2, 199-pound native of Koping, Sweden, went 20-13-0 with a 1.70 GAA, a .929 SV% and four shutouts in 33 games for Lulea HF in Sweden’s Elite League last season. Gustafsson was selected by the Wild in the sixth round (159th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He has yet to make his NHL debut.

The Iowa Wild first acquired Heemskerk in mid-November, signing him to a PTO on Nov. 15. He backed up in goal over the weekend before he was returned to the Quad City Mallards, Iowa’s Central Hockey League (CHL) affiliate. In 10 games with the Mallards, Heemskerk (5-1-3) posted a 2.92 GAA and .909 SV%. The Chilliwack, BC native has appeared six AHL games for the Worcester Sharks. Suiting up four times in 2011-2012 and twice in 2012-13.

Iowa continues a six-game homestand with Grand Rapids on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 7:05 p.m.  Hamilton will visit on Friday, Dec. 20, San Antonio on Saturday, Dec. 21, and Rockford on Thursday, Dec. 26. For Wednesday’s game, fans have the opportunity to purchase a $5 ticket by presenting a Subway receipt at the Wells Fargo Arena box office. Friday’s game also marks $2 Beer Night, where fans can purchase 10 oz. domestic drafts through the first period, presented by 100.3 FM The Bus. Saturday’s game is Salvation Army Night, where fans may drop donations with Kettle Bearers. The game also features kids who participated in the team’s Wild About Reading program. During next Thursday’s game, fans are encouraged to sport an Ugly Holiday Sweater. Fans may also purchase the Subway Family Four Pack, which features four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas, and four Subway coupons starting at $44.
