IOWA WILD MAKES ROSTER MOVES  

Iowa Sends Jobke to Orlando, Releases Little and Rioux

Des Moines, IA – Iowa Wild General Manager Jim Mill announced on Monday the American Hockey League (AHL) club has released defenseman Nicholas Rioux and forward Broc Little from professional tryout agreements (PTO). Mill also announced defenseman Colton Jobke has been assigned to the Orlando Solar Bears, Iowa’s ECHL affiliate.

Rioux, made his AHL debut at Milwaukee on Jan. 6, a 4-3 shootout loss for Iowa. He played in five games for the Wild, going scoreless with a +1 and two penalty minutes. Rioux is a third-year pro who spent training camp with Iowa before heading to the team’s Central Hockey League (CHL) affiliate in Quad City. He returns to Quad City, where he made 28 appearances with the Mallards. Rioux scored twice and set up 10 others for 12 points. He has played his first three pro seasons in the CHL. In 159 career CHL games, the 27-year old has 14 goals and 46 assists for 60 points. 

A first-year pro, Jobke made his Iowa debut at Rockford on Jan. 3, a 3-2 victory for the Wild. Jobke was scoreless in seven games for the Wild. He returns to Orlando, where he has played in 25 games for the Solar Bears, scoring two goals and adding three assists for five points. The Delta, BC native was scoreless in two AHL games as an amateur in the spring of 2012. The 21-year old played in 222 WHL games from 2009-13 for Regina and Kelowna, scoring 14 goals and totaling 65 points.

Little played in one game for the Wild, going scoreless in the team’s 1-0 win at home against Lake Erie on Jan. 18. He signed with Iowa on Jan. 17 after playing in 20 AHL games for Springfield this season. Little scored three goals and totaled eight points with the Falcons. The Phoenix, AZ native has signed a contract in Finland. He spent the last two seasons in Sweden, playing for AIK (SEL) and Vasteras IK (Swe-1). During the 2012-13 season, the 5-foot-9, 170-pounder scored 16 times and totaled 46 points in 55 games for AIK. In 2011-12, he scored 35 goals and totaled 66 points in 51 games for Vasteras IK. Little played four seasons at Yale University from 2007-11, scoring 72 goals and racking up 142 points in 131 ECAC games.

Iowa will play three straight games on the road, all in the Lone Star state. The Wild visits the Texas Stars on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 7:30 p.m. The team also plays a pair of games at San Antonio prior to returning home on Friday, Jan. 31 for a 7:05 p.m. game with the Milwaukee Admirals. Friday’s game on Jan. 31 against Milwaukee marks Military Appreciation Night, presented by the Marines. The game will feature various in-game elements to honor those who serve our country. The first 2,500 fans to the game receive a Wild camouflage hat, compliments of 92.5 KJJY. The game is also a $2 Beer Night, where fans may purchase $2, ten-ounce domestic drafts through the first period of play, presented by 100.3 The Bus. After the game, fans are invited to bring skates for a Postgame skate opportunity on the Wells Fargo Arena ice.
