WILD HOSTS MILITARY APPRECIATION NIGHT THIS FRIDAY

Medal Of Honor Winner To Drop the Puck, First 2,500 Receive a Camouflage Hat

Des Moines, IA – This Friday, the Iowa Wild hosts its first ever Military Appreciation Night, presented by the Marines.

Celebrating local heroes, the Wild hosts the Milwaukee Admirals at Wells Fargo Arena at 7:05 p.m. on Friday, January 31. Central Iowa will have an opportunity to meet Staff Sergeant Salvatore “Sal” A. Giunta, who will drop the puck prior to Friday night’s game. Giunta, an Iowa native, is the first living military personnel to receive the Medal of Honor since the Vietnam War. Born in Clinton, IA, Giunta enlisted in the Army after wrapping up high school in Cedar Rapids. President Barrack Obama awarded Giunta the Medal of Honor for saving the lives of members of his squad on Oct. 25, 2007 during the War in Afghanistan. Giunta will be available for photos on the concourse during the first period & intermission of Friday’s game. In a partnership with Beaverdale Books, he will be selling his book, “Living with Honor” which was published in December of 2012.

Aside from Giunta’s presence, the Marines will perform a Swear-In for newly enlisted members, as well as repel from the catwalks of Wells Fargo Arena prior to the faceoff. Fans looking to obtain more information about the Marines may visit their table on the concourse during the game.

All active and retired Military personnel are eligible for a ticket discount of $3 off. Discounts are available by showing a Military ID at the Wells Fargo Arena box office. One discount per ID presented.

The first 2,500 fans to the game receive a Wild camouflage hat, compliments of 92.5 KJJY. The game is also a $2 Beer Night, where fans may purchase $2, ten-ounce domestic drafts through the first period of play, presented by 100.3 The Bus.
