Iowa opened the scoring at 16:57 of the first period, notching a shorthanded goal for the 1-0 lead. Wild forward Carson McMillan picked off an outlet pass in the Wolves zone. He led a 2-on-1 offensive opportunity towards the Chicago net. Warren Peters took the pass from McMillan and beat Wolves goalie Matt Climie blocker-side for his sixth goal of the year.

After a scoreless second period, Chicago spoiled Johan Gustafsson’s shutout bid at 9:46 of the third period. Dmirtij Jaskin battled for a loose puck behind the Iowa net and snapped a wrist shot, banking the puck off Gustafsson and into the Wild net for the 1-1 score. Forwards Keith Aucoin and Mark Mancari each had an assist on Jaskin’s 13th goal of the season. The Wolves moved in front at 17:07 of the third period on Ty Rattie’s team-leading 16th goal of the year. Center Alexandre Bolduc slipped a pass to the left-wing circle in the Iowa zone, connecting with Rattie, who beat Gustafsson with a wrist shot. Defenseman Mark Cundari added an assist on the play. Iowa pulled goalie Johan Gustafsson late in favor of the extra attacker. Center Zack Phillips found a puck in the Chicago crease, beating Cilime for the 2-2 score. Forwards Justin Mercier and Carson McMillan each had an assist on Phillips’ eight goal of the season. The goal forced overtime for the fifth straight game for the Wild.

With 29 seconds remaining in overtime. Rattie ended the game with his 17th goal of the year. Cundari and Jaskin helped work the puck in the Wild zone to Rattie in the right-wing circle. The rookie forward blasted a slapshot past Gustafsson to seal a 3-2 victory for the Wolves.
