Rosemont, IL – The Iowa Wild (27-33-6-4, 64 points) defeated the Chicago Wolves (40-20-4-6, 90 points) 4-3 in a shootout in front of 8,516 fans at Allstate Arena on Sunday. Forward Kris Foucault scored twice to carry the offense through regulation and Iowa goalie Cody Reichard was a perfect six out of six in the shootout to lead Iowa to victory. Rookie defenseman Dylan Labbe scored in the sixth round of the shootout to give the Wild the extra point and end the team’s three-game losing skid. Making his AHL season debut, Reichard (1-0-0) made 42 saves in regulation to post the win.  Rookie forward Tyler Graovac also scored in regulation and defenseman Kyle Medvec chipped in two assists, as Iowa picked up its 16th road win of the year. Wolves goalie Matt Climie (9-9-2) finished with 29 saves in regulation and stopped five of six Iowa attempts in the shootout defeat. Chicago forward Pat Cannone posted two goals on the night. The Wild returns home for Fan Appreciation Weekend starting Friday with Chicago at 7:05 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena.

Chicago opened the scoring just 18 seconds into the game, with Alexandre Bolduc taking advantage of an Iowa turnover. Bolduc picked off a pass on the left-wing side and carried into the circle, sneaking a shot past Cody Reichard for his 13th goal of the season and a 1-0 Chicago lead. Iowa countered at 6:28 of the first period, as rookie Tyler Graovac finished off a centering pass from Jamie MacQueen. Forward Marc Hagel added an assist on Graovac’s 10th goal of the season. Less than a minute later, the Wild struck for its second goal of the year. Camped out in front of the Wolves net, forward Kris Foucault found a rebound in front of Matt Climie and tucked it into the open net. Defensemen Kyle Medvec and Dylan Labbe each had an assist on Foucault’s 10th tally of the season for the 2-1 Iowa lead.

The Wolves picked up their second goal of the night at 7:01 of the middle frame, tying the game 2-2. Michael Davies fired a shot to the Iowa net and Pat Cannone found the rebound for his 14th goal of the season.

Merely 2:00 into the third period, Chicago defenseman Taylor Chorney wristed a shot to the Iowa net and Cannone tipped it for his second goal of the game and 15th of the season, putting the Wolves in front 3-2. Iowa answered back at 8:37 of the third period, knotting the game 3-3. Warren Peters held the puck in at the blueline and rifled a shot to the Chicago net. After Matt Climie made the save, Foucault found the rebound and backhanded a shot past the Wolves netminder for his second goal of the game and his 11th goal of the season. Medvec added his second assist of the game on the play.

The two teams went through a scoreless overtime before heading to a shootout. Iowa’s Reichard was flawless in the shootout, including an outstanding save in the third round on Shane Harper. Chicago goalie Matt Climie stopped the first five Iowa shooters before rookie Dylan Labbe slipped a backhand between his legs to win the shootout.
