IOWA WILD, BANKERS TRUST and HOME, INC. ASSIST LOCAL FAMILY

Team and Corporate Sponsor Partner with Area Nonprofit

Des Moines, IA – The Iowa Wild, in conjunction with Bankers Trust and HOME INC., announced on Tuesday the three have partnered to assist in a home purchase for the Yacoub family of Des Moines.

On Friday, March 28th, the three partners helped the Yacoub family close on a home. The Iowa Wild players and staff donated $1,300 to help the Yacoubs get into their new home.

“The Iowa Wild players and its staff, are committed to this community”, said Iowa Wild President Todd Frederickson. “It’s been our goal, since the first day we set foot in Iowa to connect and help this community as much as we can. We are fortunate enough to have a great corporate partner in Bankers Trust to help us in our mission. We can’t thank our players enough for donating their own money to help make this happen.”

Marlene Yacoub moved to Iowa 13 years ago from Lebanon to pursue a better life for herself and her family.  Yacoub reached out to HOME, Inc. (the oldest private, non-profit housing organization in Des Moines) two years ago in order to participate in the organization’s Home Ownership Counseling program.  Over the course of two years, Yacoub developed a plan that encompassed: budgeting, affordability assessments and credit maintenance.

”First-time home ownership requires a great deal of education,” said Jana Rieker, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Bankers Trust. “Bankers Trust is proud to partner with the Iowa Wild and HOME, Inc. to help Marlene and her family achieve their dream of home ownership.”

Through the services of HOME, Inc., Yacoub was able to find a home the organization had rehabbed for individuals who have completed the Home Ownership Counseling program.

“HOME, Inc. believes that access to quality, affordable housing provides the foundation that allows families to stabilize and improve their lives,” said Home, Inc. Des Moines Executive Director Pam Carmichael. ”To that end, HOME, Inc. develops affordable housing and provides counseling to families so they obtain and retain housing.  We are proud to partner with Bankers Trust and the Wild to make homeownership a reality for Marlene and her children.”
