MULTIPLE ROSTER MOVES SHAPE IOWA ROSTER

Season Opener is Oct. 10 at San Antonio

Des Moines, IA - Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Monday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has reduced its roster to 24 players after the following transactions: forward Justin Fontaine has been placed on injured reserve with a lower-body injury, retroactive to Sept. 27. Forwards Cody Almond and Stephane Veilleux have been placed on waivers. Forwards Kurtis Gabriel and Joel Rechlicz have been reassigned to the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL). Goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov has been released from his professional tryout with Minnesota. In addition, Iowa Wild General Manager Jim Mill announced on Monday the American Hockey League (AHL) club has released forward Jamie MacQueen.  

Gabriel and Rechlichz return after going up over the weekend. Rechlicz played in Saturday’s preseason game against St. Louis. Gabriel was available, but did not play. MacQueen played in two preseason games for Iowa, scoring one goal.

Veilleux and Almond need to clear waivers in order to report to Iowa. 

Iowa begins its second season in the American Hockey League with a two-game road trip in Texas. The team plays at 7:30 p.m. in San Antonio on Friday, Oct. 10. The Wild stops in Cedar Park, TX to face the defending Calder Cup Champion Texas Stars on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. Iowa hosts Opening Weekend on Friday, Oct. 17 and Saturday, Oct 18 at 7 p.m. against the Milwaukee Admirals. The first 5,000 fans to Friday’s game will receive a 2014-15 Magnetic Schedule, compliments of Hicklin Garage Doors. Fans may also enjoy a $2 Beer Night, presented by 100.3 The Bus. On Saturday, the team celebrates Local Heroes Night and the first 5,000 fans will be handed an Iowa Wild 2014-15 poster schedule.

The Iowa Wild 2014-15 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center and begins on the road Oct. 10 in San Antonio. Fans may purchase seats to the Home Opener on Friday, Oct. 17 against the Milwaukee Admirals at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
