WILD FINALIZES OPENING DAY ROSTER – MAKE MULTIPLE MOVES

Team Signs Forwards Archambault, Gregoire and Defenseman Parenteau

Des Moines, IA - Iowa Wild General Manager Jim Mill announced on Thursday the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed forward Jay Gregoire and defenseman Jake Parenteau to professional tryout agreements (PTO). In addition, the club has signed forward Olivier Archambault to a two-way (AHL / ECHL) standard player contract. Archambault has been assigned to the Alaska Aces, Iowa’s ECHL affiliate. Mill also announced the 2014-15 Iowa Wild Opening Day roster.

The 28-man roster is composed of two goalies, eight defensemen and 16 forwards.

Goalies: John Curry, Johan Gustafsson.

Defensemen: Guillaume Gelinas, Colton Jobke, Jon Blum, Jake Parenteau, Corbin Baldwin, Gustav Olofsson, Alex Gudbranson, Justin Falk.

Forwards: Tyler Graovac, Jordan Schroeder, Curt Gogol, Ryan Walters, Brett Bulmer, Zack Mitchell, Stephane Veilleux, Brady Brassart, Joel Rechlicz, Jay Gregoire, Brett Sutter, Raphael Bussieres, Marc Hagel, Michael Keranen, Kurtis Gabriel, Zack Phillips.

Archambault earned a contract by scoring four goals and totaling five points in two preseason games for Iowa. He recently wrapped up a five-year QMJHL career, which saw him score 100 goals and totaling 231 points in 270 games. He was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the fourth round (#108 overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Gregoire enters his fourth pro season in 2014-15, playing last year in the Swedish Elite League with 13 goals and 22 points in 40 games played. The 25-year old forward played for the AHL’s St. John IceCaps from 2011-13, scoring 16 goals and amassing 32 points in 104 AHL games. The 5-foot-11, 190-pounder played three years at the University of North Dakota, playing in 120 games for the Fighting Sioux, totaling 57 goals and 109 points. Gregoire was selected by the New York Islanders in the third round (#76 overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Defenseman Jake Parenteau turns pro after a four-year playing career at the University of Minnesota. In 113 games for the Gophers, the Shafer, MN native scored four goals and set up 18 others for 22 points.  

Iowa begins its second season in the American Hockey League with a two-game road trip in Texas. The team plays at 7:30 p.m. in San Antonio on Friday, Oct. 10. The Wild stops in Cedar Park, TX to face the defending Calder Cup Champion Texas Stars on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. Iowa hosts Opening Weekend on Friday, Oct. 17 and Saturday, Oct 18 at 7 p.m. against the Milwaukee Admirals. The first 5,000 fans to Friday’s game will receive a 2014-15 Magnetic Schedule, compliments of Hicklin Garage Doors. Fans may also enjoy a $2 Beer Night, presented by 100.3 The Bus. On Saturday, the team celebrates Local Heroes Night and the first 5,000 fans will be handed an Iowa Wild 2014-15 poster schedule. The annual Guns-N-Hoses game takes place on Saturday, Oct. 18 with games at 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena.

The Iowa Wild 2014-15 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center and begins on the road Oct. 10 in San Antonio. Fans may purchase seats to the Home Opener on Friday, Oct. 17 against the Milwaukee Admirals at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
