Two Join Minnesota in Boston

DES MOINES, Iowa – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Tuesday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled defensemen Stu Bickel and Justin Falk from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL). Minnesota also announced it has placed defensemen Keith Ballard and Christian Folin on injured reserve, retroactive to Oct. 21 with illness.

Bickel, 28, has registered 5 penalty minutes (PIM) and three shots in four games with Iowa this season. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound native of Chanhassen, Minn., totaled an assist, 19 PIM, seven hits and five blocked shots in five preseason games with Minnesota, spending time as both a defenseman and forward. He’s totaled nine assists and 157 PIM in 67 career NHL games, adding 16 PIM in 18 playoff contests. He signed as a free agent with Minnesota on July 1 and, if he appears in a game with the Wild, will become the 19th Minnesotan to play a game with the team in franchise history.

Falk, 26, has totaled 8 PIM and five shots in six games with Iowa this season. He totaled 9 PIM, four blocked shots and one hit in two preseason games with Minnesota. The 6-foot-5, 222-pound native of Snowflake, Man., has totaled 17 points (1-16=17) and 120 PIM in 129 career NHL games, adding 2 PIM in four playoff games. He signed as a free agent with Minnesota on Aug. 1.

Iowa embarks on a three-game road trip with stops in Milwaukee and Oklahoma City before returning home for a three-game home stand. The Wild returns home on Thursday, Nov. 6 to host Rockford at 10:30 a.m. Thursday’s game with the IceHogs is also School Field Trip Day, where the first 5,000 youths (12 and under) receive an Iowa Wild drawstring backpack, compliments of NASH FM. Iowa rounds out its home stand against Chicago with a two-game series at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8 and Sunday, Nov. 9. Saturday night is Ladies Night, where the first 2,500 fans receive an Iowa Wild ice scraper sponsored by Greater Iowa Credit Union. All ladies (21 and over) may purchase glasses of wine for $1.00. The Wild will also host Special Olympics Night on Saturday. Sunday is Pucks N’ Paws day, where the first 2,500 fans receive pet tags, compliments of Anderson Animal Hospital. It is also a Subway Family Four Pack game, where fans may purchase four tickets, four sodas and four hot dogs, starting at $48.       

The Iowa Wild 2014-15 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team’s 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
