MINNESOTA ASSIGNS BLUM AND VEILLEUX

Both Expected to Play in Milwaukee on Wednesday

Des Moines, IA – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Wednesday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has reassigned defenseman Jonathon Blum and forward Stephane Veilleux (steph-AWN vay-OOH ) to the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Blum, 25 (1/20/89), recorded one shot, 2 penalty minutes (PIM) and a minus-1 rating in last night's contest in New Jersey, his only game with Minnesota since being recalled Nov. 1. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound native of Long Beach, Calif., leads all Iowa defensemen with five points (1-4=5) and has added 13 shots in seven games this season. He posted one assist and 11 shots in 15 games with Minnesota in 2013-14, totaling 29 points (7-22=29) and 111 shots in 54 games with Iowa.  The blueliner has registered 23 points (7-16=23) in 107 career NHL games in parts of five seasons with Nashville and Minnesota. He was originally selected by Nashville in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft and wears No. 7 for the Wild.

Veilleux, 32 (11/16/81), totaled 8 PIM, four shots and an even rating in five game with Minnesota since being recalled Oct. 30. The 6-foot-1, 199-pound native of Beauceville, Que., has tallied 12 penalty minutes (PIM) and 10 shots in seven games as the captain for Iowa this season. He has compiled 104 points (49-55=104) and 346 PIM in 499 NHL games with Minnesota, Tampa Bay and New Jersey. Veilleux ranks fourth in Wild history in hits (439), eighth in games played (421), ninth in PIM (298) and 11th in shots (588). He was originally selected by Minnesota in the third-round (93rd overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft and wears No. 19 for the Wild.

Iowa plays in Milwaukee on Wednesday prior to returning home for ALS Weekend on Nov. 14 and 15 at 7 p.m., welcoming the Oklahoma City Barons. Along with ALS Weekend, the Iowa Wild celebrates Veterans Weekend with specialty camouflage jerseys for both games, in appreciation of our veterans who have served the U.S. sponsored by ALS of Iowa. Friday is also a $2 Beer Night, sponsored by 100.3 The Bus. As part of $2 Beer Night, fans may purchase 10-ounce domestic beers through the first period of play. On Saturday night, the first 2,500 fans through the gates receive will be handed an Iowa Wild camo hat, sponsored by Iowa National Guard. After the game, the Wild will hold a live jersey auction, with the proceeds benefitting the ALS Association – Iowa Chapter.  

The Iowa Wild 2014-15 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April.
