 WILD COMEBACK SINKS ADMIRALS 3-2 IN OT

Iowa Hits The Road Friday and Saturday in Western New York

DES MOINES, IA – The Iowa Wild (11-19-1-1, 24 points) defeated the Milwaukee Admirals (15-11-1-3, 34 points) 3-2 in overtime in front of 6,618 fans on Monday night at Wells Fargo Arena. Forward Jordan Schroeder scored twice for Iowa, including the game-tying goal with 3:44 remaining in regulation and the game-winning tally in overtime. Rookie forward Zack Mitchell also scored in the Wild OT win. Iowa goalie Johan Gustafsson (6-12-1) made 30 saves on 32 shots, recording the home victory. Rookie forward Viktor Arvidsson scored twice in the road loss for the Admirals. Milwaukee goalie Marek Mazenec (8-8-2) stopped 25 of 28 shots in the overtime defeat. Iowa begins a four-game road trip in Rochester on Friday at 6 p.m. CT.

After a scoreless first period, Milwaukee opened up the scoring at the 11:38 mark of the second period with a goal from rookie forward Viktor Arvidsson. Arvidsson fired a wrist shot past Iowa goalie Johan Gustafsson while on a power play, giving the Admirals a 1-0 lead. Defenseman Ian White and forward Colton Sissons fed Arvidsson the puck for his eighth goal of the year.

In the third period, rookie forward Zack Mitchell scored 4:16 into the period, tying the game 1-1. Mitchell’s eighth goal of the season was assisted by defenseman Matt Dumba and forward Marc Hagel. The Admirals recaptured the lead 7:56 into the period when Arvidsson scored his second goal of the night, making it 2-1 Milwaukee. Arvidsson scored his ninth goal of the year on an unassisted breakaway. Iowa again tied the game at the 16:16 mark with a goal from forward Jordan Schroeder, who scored on a rebound shot during a Wild power play for the 2-2 tie. Schroeder’s eighth goal of the season was assisted by forward Michael Keranen and defenseman Jonathon Blum and sent the game into overtime.

In overtime, Schroeder tallied his scored goal of the night on a power play at the 2:24 mark, lifting the Wild past the Admirals. Defensemen Danny Syvret and Matt Dumba aided Schroeder on his ninth goal of the season and the 3-2 final.

Iowa hits the road with four straight games to start the New Year. After stops in Rochester, Utica, Texas and San Antonio over the next two weeks, the Wild returns home on Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. to face the Chicago Wolves. The team celebrates Taco Tuesdays against Chicago, presented by Taco John’s. It’s also a two-for-one Tuesday, where fans may purchase one (1) attack end ticket and receive a second ticket free, sponsored by Hits 99.9 FM. Also, those that bring a Subway receipt may purchase a ticket for $5. After a trip to Rockford on Friday, Jan. 16, Iowa returns home for a three-game home stand starting at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17 with the Lake Erie Monsters. Iowa is holding a sport equipment drive in its first game with Lake Erie, sponsored by Scheels. For each item donated, the fan receives a ticket voucher for a future game. The drive benefits Courage League Sports. The first 1,000 fans receive an Iowa Wild Piggy Bank, presented by Mercy.

On Sunday, Jan. 18, the Wild and Monsters meet again at 3 p.m. Also on Sunday, the Wild celebrates Kids WinterFest, featuring Xbox Dance Revolution, face painting, balloon artists and a sign station, presented by Fast Signs. The first 1,500 youths to the game (12 and under) receives an Iowa Wild green youth jersey, presented by KDSM FOX 17 & Scheels. The team is also hosting its first ever Baby Derby, presented by Me & Mommy To Be. Fans will be able to watch the baby’s crawl to see which is the fastest in central Iowa. Fans will also be able to purchase the Subway Combo Pack, presented by Subway and 104 More. The Subway Combo Pack includes one ticket, one hot dog, one soda and a Subway coupon, starting at just $12. The Wild also hosts a public skate after the game, presented Grip Tite. All fans are reminded to bring their skates.

The Iowa Wild 2014-15 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team’s 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
