Rioux Signs PTO. Perry Assigned to Quad City, Dieude-Fauvel Released

DES MOINES, IA – Iowa Wild General Manager Jim Mill announced on Thursday the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed defenseman Nicholas Rioux (wree-you) to a professional tryout agreement (PTO). Mill also announced that forward Joe Perry has been reassigned to the Quad City Mallards of the ECHL. In addition, defenseman Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel (zhoo-dee, Fah-vehl) has been released from a PTO.

Rioux returns to the Wild where he played in five games over three stints earlier in the season. He was held without a point during his time in Iowa. Rioux has spent the majority of this season with the ECHL’s Quad City. The 28-year old has played in 54 games for the Mallards, scoring four goals and setting up 19 others for 23 points. Rioux is a fourth-year pro who played in 58 games for the Mallards last year, posting career highs of five goals and 27 assists for 32 points. He was also among the team leaders with a +16 rating. For his AHL career, Quebec native has played in 13 AHL games (all with Iowa) without registering a point.

Perry, who signed his first AHL SPC (standard player contract) on Mar. 2, rejoins the Mallards, where he spent the bulk of his season prior to joining the Wild. The rookie forward missed the last nine games in Iowa due to injury and is expected to play this weekend with Quad City. In all, Perry played in six games with Iowa, securing his first AHL point with an assist in his AHL debut at Hamilton on Feb. 6. He’s also played in 42 games for Quad City this season.  At the time of his departure, Perry was tied for eighth overall in the ECHL for goals scored (20), which was tied for second best among all league rookies. The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder also ranked fifth among all rookies in points (36) and placed second among all rookies in shots on goal with 138. The 25-year old led the Mallards in goals and was second in points. Perry played at St. Norbert College from 2010-14. In 115 NCHA games, Perry tallied 50 goals and 56 assists for 106 points.

Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel signed his first AHL PTO on Dec. 14, making his AHL debut for Iowa at home against Adirondack. In all, the Bordeaux, France native played in 15 games for the Wild, picking up his first career AHL point with an assist at home versus Chicago on Dec. 21. He has missed the last 20 games due to injury and is expected to play this weekend for Quad City. The 28-year old has played in North America for the past six seasons after starting his pro career in France. The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder joined the Wild from the Quad City Mallards of the ECHL. In 22 games played, Dieude-Fauvel had four goals and seven points. Over the last six years, Dieude-Fauvel has played in 333 pro games for the CHL’s Laredo Bucks, ECHL’s Elmira Jackals and Quad City. Last year in Quad City, Dieude-Fauvel scored a career-high 11 goals and totaled 40 points in 65 games with the Mallards.

The Wild returns home on Sunday, Mar. 15 for a 5:00 p.m. faceoff with the Utica Comets, which marks the beginning of a six-game home stand. During the first intermission, the team is celebrating its first ever “Wedding on Ice”, sponsored by Grip Tite Foundation Repair. Prior to the game, Iowa is hosting a charity game to raise money for Autism. The game features Wells Fargo versus Principal Financial at 2 p.m. with all proceeds going to the Autism Society of Iowa. Specialty pucks will be available for purchase on the concourse, with the proceeds benefitting the Autism Society of Iowa. Fans are encouraged to bring their skates for a postgame skate after the game, presented by Grip Tite Foundation Repair. Fans may also purchase the Subway Combo Pack, which starts at $12 per person, including a ticket, a hot dog, a soda – also presented by More 104 FM.

Iowa continues its six-game home stand with Charlotte at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Mar. 21. The day of the game, Iowa is hosting the first ever “Bags and Brews On Ice” tournament from 1:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. The event, sponsored by Summit Brewing, Lazer 103.3 and Tailgate Addicts – features a keg from Summit Brewing, music and a stream of the NCAA tournament games up on the video board. The team is holding a silent auction on the concourse, benefitting the American Heart Association (AHA). Fans may bid on the team’s AHA warm-up jerseys through the first two periods of the game. The first 1,500 fans to Saturday’s game receive an Iowa Wild duffel bag, ​sponsored by Iowa Ortho & Lazer 103.3. Every Saturday night fans may purchase the Brewdog Pack - presented by Legends American Grill. The package starts at $15 per fan, consisting of a ticket, a Wild puck, a hot dog and a beer at the game. Fans also receive a postgame beer at  the downtown Legends American Grill location.

Iowa and Charlotte meet again at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Mar. 22. The team celebrates Agriculture Appreciation Day on with the first 5,000 fans receiving a cowbell, presented by ​sponsored by Verizon Wireless. Fans may also purchase the Subway Combo Pack, which starts at $12 per person, including a ticket, a hot dog, a soda – also presented by More 104 FM.

The Iowa Wild 2014-15 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team’s 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
