Iowa Heads to Grand Rapids Wednesday

DES MOINES, IA – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Monday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled forward Kurtis Gabriel from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL). Iowa Wild General Manager Brent Flahr also announced the AHL club has assigned forward Tanner Eberle to the Quad City Mallards, Iowa’s ECHL affiliate.

Gabriel, 22 (4/20/93), has recorded a team-leading 31 penalty minutes (PIM) in nine games with Iowa this season and owns 20 points (9-11=20) and 171 penalty minutes (PIM) in 84 career AHL contests. He led Iowa in PIM and ranked third in goals and scoring by a rookie in 2014-15. The 6-foot-4, 212-pound native of Newmarket, Ont., was originally selected by Minnesota in the third round (81st overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. He has not appeared in an NHL contest and will wear sweater No. 63 with Minnesota.

Eberle, 21 (1/12/94), is in his first pro season after playing the last five seasons in the WHL with the Moose Jaw Warriors. He has appeared in five games for Iowa without registering a point. In six games with Quad City, Eberle has three goals and six points. Last season, the 5-11, 190-pounder played in 63 games, scoring 33 goals and adding 23 assists for 56 points, to go along with 99 penalty minutes. For his WHL career, the Regina, SK native played in 270 contests, posting 80 goals and 92 assists for 172 points. He turned pro at the end of the 2014-15 season, playing for both Bridgeport of the AHL and Allen of the ECHL. Eberle was scoreless in six games with the AHL’s Sound Tigers. In five games with the Americans, the forward posted two goals and four points.

The Wild travels to Grand Rapids on Wednesday, Nov. 11 for a 6 p.m. (CT) game. Iowa returns home for a pair of games with the Rockford IceHogs on Friday, Nov. 13 and Saturday, Nov. 14. The Wild is wearing specialty jerseys for “Veteran Appreciation” weekend. Friday’s game features the “Bring Your Buds” ticket package, including one ticket, one 16 oz. Bud or Bud Light at the Wild game, one hot dog, one popcorn, $1 discount for 25 oz. cans of Bud or Bud Light during the game, and one free Bud or Bud Light at Carl’s Place. The Wild and IceHogs rematch the following day at 7 p.m. Veterans Appreciation Weekend continues on Saturday with ALS night. The team is hosting a live jersey auction benefitting ALS Association of Iowa Chapter following the game. The first 1,500 fans to the game receive an Iowa Wild “Stars and Stripes” hat courtesy of Vatterott College and ALT 106.3. The “Legends Brewdog Pack” is also be available, including one ticket, beer, hot dog, and one free Bud or Bud Light at Legends American Grill.

The Wells Fargo Arena box office is open Monday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday. The Iowa Wild 2015-16 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team’s 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena.
