Iowa and Rockford Set For Rematch Saturday at 7 p.m.

DES MOINES, IA – The Iowa Wild (3-10-1-2) were defeated by the Rockford IceHogs (8-3-1-1) 5-2 in front of 5,439 fans Friday night at Wells Fargo Arena. Three different IceHogs each tallied multi-point nights, and forward Bryan Bickell scored the eventual game winner to push past the Wild. Rockford goalie Michael Leighton (7-2-1-1) stopped 29 of 31 shots for his seventh victory of the season. Rockford also received goals from forwards Dennis Rasmussen, Pierre-Cedric Labrie, Jeremy Morin and defenseman Ville Pokka. Iowa goalie Leland Irving (2-4-2-1) made 34 saves on 39 shots in the loss. Forwards Michael Keranen and Kurtis Gabriel each scored in the Iowa defeat. The Wild and IceHogs rematch Saturday night at 7 p.m.

Forward Pierre Cedric-Labrie got Rockford on the board at 13:41 of the first period with his fourth goal of the season. Forwards Bryan Bickell and Vinnie Hinostroza each picked up an assist on the play. Bickell turned a Wild turnover in the neutral zone into a 3-on-2 rush. Bickell entered the offensive zone, tossing a pass across ice to Hinostroza. The Rockford forward corralled the puck on his backhand and slid the puck to a wide-open Labrie. Labrie one-timed the puck past a sprawling Irving for a 1-0 lead.

Rockford defenseman Ville Pokka scored 40 seconds into the second period, grabbing a 2-0 lead. Forward Jake Dowell picked up the assist on the goal. Pokka picked up a loose puck behind the Iowa net, catching Irving out of position. The defenseman wrapped the puck around the right side of the goal and buried it in the back of the open net for his second goal of the season. Wild forward Michael Keranen answered for with a power-play goal at 3:06 of the period. Keranen took a pass from captain Maxime Fortunus at the left point and one-timed a slap shot to the upper-right corner, for his third goal of the season. IceHogs forward Bryan Bickell scored his second goal of the season at 14:02 of the second period. Right winger Ryan Hartman and Pokka each earned an assist on the play. Bickell carried the puck into the offensive zone, firing a wrist shot from the left circle. The shot beat Irving high on the glove side, giving the IceHogs a 3-1 lead. Wild forward Kurtis Gabriel scored at 19:34 of the second period, cutting the IceHogs lead back to one. Forwards Ruslan Fedotenko and Brady Brassart tallied an assist on the play. Fedotenko cycled the puck down the boards on the right side. Brassart picked up the puck behind the net and fired a no-look pass to the slot. Gabriel crashed the net and one-timed the puck past Leighton for his first goal of the season.

Rockford forward Dennis Rasmussen scored at 2:28 of the third period, giving Rockford a 4-2 lead. Rasmussen carried the puck into the offensive zone down the right side. Cutting to the net, Rasmussen beat a Wild defender and fired a shot off of Irving’s pad. Rasmussen picked up his own rebound and elevated the puck over Irving for his third goal of the season. Forward Jeremy Morin added a goal at 8:55 of the third to give the IceHogs a 5-2 lead. Defenseman Cameron Schilling picked up an assist on the play, and Bickel tallied his second assist and third point of the night. 

The Wild and IceHogs rematch tomorrow at 7 p.m. Veterans Appreciation Weekend continues on Saturday with ALS night. The team is hosting a live jersey auction benefitting ALS Association of Iowa Chapter following the game. The first 1,500 fans to the game receive an Iowa Wild “Stars and Stripes” hat courtesy of Vatterott College and ALT 106.3. The “Legends Brewdog Pack” is also be available, including one ticket, beer, hot dog, and one free Bud or Bud Light at Legends American Grill.

Iowa hosts Lake Erie for a pair of games next weekend on Nov. 20 and Nov. 21. Friday is a $2 Beer Night sponsored by 100.3 The Bus. The Wild holds a canned-food drive, presented by 72 Degree Comfort Company, benefitting Food Bank of Iowa. Fans that bring in a canned food item receive a ticket voucher to a future Iowa Wild home game. Friday’s game also features the “Bring Your Buds” ticket package. It includes one ticket, one 16 oz. Bud or Bud Light at the Wild game, one hot dog, one popcorn, $1 OFF Bud or Bud Light 25 oz. cans during the game, and one free Bud or Bud Light at Carl’s Place.

Saturday’s game is “Youth Sports” day sponsored by NASH FM. The first 1,500 fans (12 and under) receive an Iowa Wild Red Youth Jersey courtesy of LeafGuard and NASH FM. The “Legends Brewdog Pack” is also available Saturday night. The “Subway Combo Pack” is available for purchase starting at $12, including one ticket, one hot dog, one soda, and one Subway coupon.

Fans may purchase single-game tickets multiple ways, either through the team's website – www.Iowawild.com, the Wells Fargo Arena box office or participating Hy-Vee food stores. Tickets are available online at www.Iowawild.com under the single game tickets tab. The Wells Fargo Arena box office is open Monday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday. For Saturday game days, the box office will open at 10 a.m. For Sunday game days the box office will open at 12 p.m. Fans may also purchase tickets by calling 1-844-55-HYVEE or by visiting participating Hy-Vee food stores locations in the greater Des Moines area. The Iowa Wild 2015-16 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April.
