Iowa Signs Austin Coldwell to PTO

DES MOINES, IA – Minnesota General Manager Chuck Fletcher announced on Monday the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled defenseman Mike Reilly from the Iowa Wild. Iowa Wild General Manager Brent Flahr announced on Monday the American Hockey League (AHL) club signed defenseman Austin Coldwell to a professional tryout agreement (PTO).

Reilly, 22 (7/13/93), has collected 13 points (4-9=13) including three power-play goals in 28 games with Iowa this season. He leads team defensemen in scoring and shots on goal (56) and his point total ranks tied for sixth amongst AHL rookie defensemen. The 6-foot-2, 191-pound blueliner collected 42 points (6-36=42) in 39 games during his junior season at the University of Minnesota in 2014-15. He was named a Hobey Baker Memorial Award Finalist and led NCAA defensemen in scoring and assists. Reilly also led the NCAA with 19 power-play assists and ranked tied for third in the nation with 21 power-play points (2-19=21) and tied for eighth with a plus-25 rating. He helped the U.S. Men's National Team win a bronze medal at the 2015 World Championship recording one assist in 10 games. Reilly was signed by the Wild as a free agent on July 1, 2015 and has not appeared in an NHL game.

Coldwell, 25 (3/1/1990), enters his first professional season in 2015-16. He’s appeared in 21 games for the ECHL affiliate Quad City Mallards, scoring three goals and five assists for eight points. He made his professional debut in the 2014-15 season for the Mallards, tallying seven points in 12 games. The 6-foot, 195-pound defenseman played collegiately at the University of Alaska-Anchorage. He played four seasons in the WCHA for the Seawolves, helping them to the WCHA Final Five in the 2013-14 season. He scored 14 goals and 36 assists for 50 points in his NCAA career before turning pro after his senior year in 2014-15. He is expected to make his AHL debut with Iowa.

After the Christmas break, Iowa travels to Chicago on Dec. 26 and returns home for a game against the Rockford IceHogs on Sunday, Dec. 27 at 3 p.m. The Subway and Star 102.5 Combo pack is available for purchase for Sunday’s game. Tickets are available online at www.Iowawild.com under the single game tickets tab. The Wells Fargo Arena box office is open Monday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday. For Saturday game days, the box office will open at 10 a.m. For Sunday game days the box office will open at 12 p.m. Fans may also purchase tickets by calling 1-844-55-HYVEE or by visiting participating Hy-Vee food stores locations in the greater Des Moines area. The Iowa Wild 2015-16 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team’s 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play its 2015-16 season at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
